I really really want to go surfing right now. Of course I wouldn't go anywhere because of skiing. but as soon as the season is over I am heading to a beach

I recently fell in love with surfing again and it is amazing...so I guess I will ask how many people here enjoy surfing?

i suck at it.

but i sure do enjoy it.

one reason i need to move away from minnesota...
 
haha, I am terrible too, but even though I suck I get the same feeling I do when I am skiing

and the best part is that it is free except for your initial cost of gear
 
I sometimes love surfing more than skiing cause it's cheaper and way more mellow than skiing. But I need my balance. But in the summer its like all I do. I did go recently and it was cold as fuck. But the waves tend to get better in the winter so its worth it.
 
I love it. this happened to me earlier today, I saw a pic of a wave and it all came back. I haven't been since September and now I can't wait for spring to go again.
 
Where do you guys live at? Im in San Fransisco where the water is like 45 degrees and the waves are ok.
 
I live in utah...I have to travel to surf

my dad grew up in your area and he said it was miserable surfing on those cold days...thats why the pee'd in there wetsuits
 
Yeah peeing in the suit is pretty much the only way to be somewhat warm in the winter.

You got the skiing close to you I got the surfing.
 
I would actually much rather ski than surf. Sure it's mellow and all, but you gotta wait a while for that perfect wave and that pisses me off. It's just like waiting for your resort to get snow, except it doesn't happen for 10 minutes at a time. Then you get an amazing ride. You paddle back out. The set starts coming again as you paddle out. You get thrashed multiple times. Yeah it's fun and all, it just fucking sucks to get thrashed by just paddling out whereas in skiing you can just bomb down the hill whenever you want, and you don't really have to wait for a whole lot besides in the liftline. Don't get me wrong, I love surfing. But I just love skiing a little more because I feel like it expresses who I am more. Nothing says fag more than a neoprene wetsuit whereas you can steeze it the fuck up with some baggy ass outerwear.
 
thats one thing I love about surfing. Like there is no other sport where people sit and watch "the playing field" I could sit all day at the beach and just watch waves. You cant do that in other sports, like your not gonna go and sit on a tennis court all day and watch a tennis court, cause the court never changes but the ocean does. and its just relaxing in general to be at the beach.
 
i tottally agree. i took 3 lessons once, froze my balls off, and had the time of my life. suring is like skiing in the summer. so is mountain biking. and kayaking and street climbing.
