So for the past few weeks, i havent been feeling well, really week and everything. so we go to the doctor, and he suspects mono. after they ran some tests at the blood lab it turns out i have leukemia, and could potentially die from it in a couple of years or less. leukemia is cancer of the blood, and its really scary knowing that the end is that near, i dont know what im going to do. has anybody else here ever been diagnosed with this and made it??

^Wow, that was encouraging.

Sorry to hear that. Don't think about it like the end is near, as you said... we all have a *chance* of dying prematurely, you just know what that challenge is beforehand, and now you can do something about it. Good luck.

whatever you do, don't quit on yourself. You have a chance at getting through it, so do everything you can to make it. Leukemia is a brutal disease, but I'm sure you'll get through it.

I beleive you are going to make it, but its going to be a tough road. You should seriously start working on your perspective about life and everything, because our body and mind are so connected. I was diagnosed with an illness in the 3rd grade, that i almost died from and I was suppose to have my entire life. I have been sick from is in over 7 years, and I probably never will again. I hope you have a supportive family and friends. My heart goes out to you, and I wish you the best hun

samck there was a big thing on the news about a study that was done based on optimism and cancer. But anyway, best of luck man, I will drop a prayer for you. My question is: did they catch it early?

'can you read what that says?'

'donna simma?'

'yes, that's right. now how would that appear in a phone book?'

'simma, donna?'

'that's right now Simma down na!'

Life is not worth living unless there is something worth dying for

^theres been lots of studys ever heard of a placebo?(SP?) its when they take a study group and give them all a pill, they give like half the real pill, and half a sugar pill, but they think there gettin the real shit, the people with the fake shit almost allways live the same as the people with the real stuff

We're all here for you. Just remember to stay positive, easy for me to say, I know, but it's important. My friend's brother was diagnosed a few years ago, he eventually had to have a bone marrow transplant, and is now cancer free. And they've done studdies and proved that if you truly believe you can beat it, it really improves your chances. Wish you the best

my cousin has it...and its physically, emotionally and psychologically overwhelming if you dont go in with the right mindset...so stay positive.

anyow, good luck, and my prayers are with you.

My grandma died of leukemia as well as my yellow lab... I'm sorry. I hope everything goes well. Best of luck. I've had a friend survive it. He moved back to Washington because of it and he's betta.

You can add your own style to any aspect of it, and you can ski things how you want... You can move at your own pace... And, you just, you have a lot of time sort of to yourself to be skiin', and that's... That's a lot of fun.''

Don't even worry about it man. It's not a matter of luck, hope, or chance... you have know that you will make it because you will.

I had a adopted cousin who lost her battle. But she had so many things going against her. She was adopted from korea and since she wasn't related to anybody in our family and she had a rare bone marrow type that it made it impossible for her to get a marrow transplant. I had a close friend who found it early and now is in remission for a couple of years. It helps to have biological family members so you can get a marrow transplant if you need too.

mmmmmm snow goood

Hucksterjibber - First of all, I'm sorry to hear about your diagnosis.

About 10 years ago TWO friends of mine were diagnosed with leukemia as well (it seems quite prevalent in young adults). They both went through about a four-month treatment program. I remember something about them having to do the transfusions through the feet (?!?). Anyway, they're both fine today and are still in remission.

Long story short: the programs and drugs are even better today (very close to 100%). So get to a hospital, get cleaned up, and then get skiing. We WILL chat with you later...

my friend's constructor was telling me the other day, how his sister in law diagnosed with breast cancer, then lymph node cancer, then a brain tumor. people all over the country were praying for her. she's getting better now. and he wasn't trying to push his beliefs on me. I don't believe that. but seriously though, see a good doctor and get better! then SKI!

Heres the thing, I have a cousin who i am super close with and he didnt want me to say that it was him on the net, for one reason or another, i dont know, but i didnt want to go against his wishes at this point in time, and he said he would feel way more comfortable if he said it was me, so i did. i told him that there were many people out there that care, and that he just cant give up. i told him that tons of people have made it, and people will do whatever they can for him to make it. i have passed everything that you guys have said on to him, and it has changed his total mindset, and i think it has meant a ton to him knowing that there are people out there that would do this for him. It has meant a ton to him that just knowing that there are total strangers out there that can relate, and that he isnt in this fight alone. I really appreciate you guys being so positive on the subject, and i have a really good feeling about him pulling through this. thank you all so much for being considerate, and taking the time to think of something constructive to say, instead of the normal shit i would get. Well im off to get my blood tested to see if im a match for the bone marrow transplant. thanks a ton.

yeah i knew two people that had it really bad and they both came out of it and that was years ago when the technology wasnt as good as it is now.

hopefully all workes out well. There are always a lot of people that will hope for the best, and hopefully you guys will find a marrow donor match soon. Something to keep in mind is that there is a farily high success rate in treating leukemia, and it is actually somewhat common (think about how many people (kids typically) have had it. Doctors have proven methods of treatment. Its not gonna be an easy road to recovery, but you (your cousin) just can't give up, keep your head up, and fight it with every ounce you got.

life is too short to have any regrets

Bigsky_gurl, and a few other people are absolutely right when they say there is a pretty freaky mind-body connection. Stay focused and try to keep a positive mental attitude. I agree that you have to maintain a positive outlook on life and live every day to it's fullest (i know it sounds cliche but it's true) There have been thousands and thousands of people to have lukemia over the years and many many of them have survived. Modern medecine is at an all time high and they are curing all sorts of ailements these days.

Best wishes.

fuck i hate it when people, especially the young ones get diagnosed cancer...stay true to yourself and never doubt your will to live. a girl in my class had brain cancer and they told her she would die in two years. she made it and it happened about five years ago. you need a strong will and perspective to get through that shit but i'm really sure you make it even though i never met you. just don't give up and show them all that you can do everything you want!!!!

tune out everyone in the crowd because now its just me and you come fall in love with the sound

Hey bro

My cousin had leukemia too

The main thing to remember is that the mind is a powerful tool

just think positive

Holla!

my brother had a good friend with really bad leukemia and just as he was going to die, he pulled through and pulled a 180. My prayers are with you.

fuck a book

Sorry to hear that man, my sympathies are definately extended. Don't get discouraged, get yourself ready mentally and physically to fight the good fight, leukemia is beatable. Lots of people have beat it, and you will too. Stay stong, man.

Yea its rough. my cousin has leukemia and it spread to her brain.... her stem cell transplant didnt work and bone marrow doesnt look to good either, but every case is different. in my opinion the more you get out there and do the things you loev and stay positive the better chance you have of making it. The healthier your mind the healthier your body.... keep on going!
