What happens when one of your limbs "goes to sleep" like when you feel that tingly feeling. I think its all the snappiness you feel between your nerves but I am taking a wild shot. so what is actually happening?

its when oxygen poor blood cant get back to the heart and oxygen rich blood cant get to the limb that is asleep, hence the reason you feel all tingly cuz your limb is technically "shutting down" cuz o lack of oxygenated (sp?) blood.

i hate the feeling. iv woken up with both arms asleep and i sriously couldnt move. it was the scariest feeling ever cuz i couldnt use either of my arms to get out of bed. i finally had to just roll off my bed and lay on the ground until the feeling came back.

Is it because nerve pathways are squeezed hard enough that it cut off circulation from the brain to the part of your body that's asleep?

You don't feel it goign to sleep, only when you move it again and get the 'feeling' back in your limbs. You cut off circulation to your body part, and no oxygen rich blood can get there. Your cells start to die. When you move and the blood flows back in, it's basically bringing them back up to speed.

It's why heart attacks are so bad, the heart stops pumping and no fresh blood +oxygen gets to it, and the tissue starts to die

yup thats it.

no but seriously when you sit some way, which makes your leg go to sleep in the first place because the position you were sitting in made it hard for the blood to circulate. and when you get back up, and start moving it around due to uncomfortableness, the blood starts circulating again, and it just makes the pins and needles feeling. i do not know why it makes that feeling though hahaha

I get the feeling that it is the lack of oxygenated blood that is restricted from circulating to one of your limbs. Thanks for all the help guys and gals.

im gunna guess as well that your nerves need the oxygen to function properly and thats why you lose feeling, and when it comes back you get the pins and needles as each nerve starts firing again like little electrical thingys
