I have a friend who needs help

He cant stop drinking, he drinks 4 nights out of 7 every week, what can i do?

Well, as a college student, that's not that bad. three days is usually what i do. and if it's at night, not interfering with work, school, whatever during the day, it's not that bad in my opinion

BUT i do not know the situation. does he get belligerent? hit girls? any more info?

What you should do is sit him down and tell him your feelings. That's the first step. just talk to him like friends should

no he doesnt hit girls, its just takinf over his life, if it wasnt for his job which is nightshift he would be drinking 7 days a week!!

if he is still in college or younger, there is probably nothing that can be done. It is honestly sort of normal for someone in college to drink that much. However, if drinking is seriously affecting his life in more serious ways (i.e. getting in trouble with the law, losing jobs, losing significant others, etc.) I would implore him to seek help either through a counselor or through a self help group such as AA

However, I know of a lot of kids who drank every night throughout high school/ university and as soon as they got out of university they grew up and drank reasonably... so i guess it all depends on the specific person.

a lot of people i kno drink that often .. just cuz they like to party .. so maybe he's just stoked on having fun ...

but if his behaviour is worriesome/reckless while he drinks or he shows signs of depression you should probably have a chat with him to see if anything shitty is goin on in his life or if he is struggling with anything and let him know that you're there for him if he needs anything

if it isnt hurting his life in any real way hes probably fine, but slowing down is never a bad idea...try to get him to drink only 2 nights and just have a few beers on the other that he normally would get fucked up, i drank too much for a while and thats what i do.
