I have a boot question.

My boots are too big. I got them when I wasn't good enough to care, but now my shins and ankles care. I want SPKs, but I dont really want to drive to a store if it can be avoided. So my questions is, all you folks who wear a size 12 (us) shoe, what ski boot size? I wear a lot of socks, and I dont want to cram the shit out of my feet but I want a tighter boot for obvious reasons. Let me know, thanks.

Shoe sizes are different between each company, and the same applies to ski boot sizes. It will really be worth your time to go actually try a pair on.

Yeah, shoe size is irrelevant. For what it's worth I wear a US 12 shoe and a 10.5 Lange (28.0). Most guys wear their shoes too big.

I dont know of a place within an hour of here that sells SPK's, if I can avoid it I want to order them. If anybody has heard of Danner boots, a 12 in those fits me perfect.

It's worth the hour or two drive to get the right size boots. I spent four hours in the shop last time I got boots and am happy that I did it. If you want your feet and skiing to suffer, here's a chart to make a guess at what you want:

There's always a chance that you'll get it right and the boot will fit and be the right size, but having things go wrong is a far more likely result. Have you even tried on the boots you're looking at?

Als has this deal where you buy 2 pairs and a return thing and you can return one pair for full refund, so I'll proly just get the 2 sizes below what I have now and go for it

so if I go about a whole size down in boots, my bindings can just be adjusted w/o being remounted, right?

normally yes, but it depends on where they are set at now, and how much size difference the boot is.
