I Have a 2001 Acura Integra. How can I make it fast?

he seems to be generally smarter than most of the people giving him shit and Im guessing he also has about an equal amount of car knowledge as a lot of them

i KBB'd your car, and going with the options i thought it probably had, i got prices raging from 3200 for fair, to in excess of 5000 for really good. you said you'd wanna spend at least 5000 "modding" it.

here's my honest recommendation. you're looking at dumping 10,000 dollars into the car total, and realistically, i imagine a smart kid like you wouldn't spend more than 7500 (total, price of car included) on the project when you realize what shit you've gotten yourself into. i know your situation, and i don't suggest pursuing it.

please keep the motor stock, and if it's your summer car that doesn't go to mountains and you just want to rip around town, do the following.

-front sway bar

-coils (raceland obviously, the lower the better. why spend money when you don't have to)

-a chip. do some research, there are a ton of reasonable conservative options that will yield many enjoyable results.

-16 inch enkeis with some good rubber, and don't get the flashiest ones you can

-don't touch the exhaust, no one wants to hear you before they see you (slowly) roll by. and cut the cats, weld in test pipes, and tune accordingly. fuck the environment.

and if you buy any of these parts new/spend more than 1000 dollars total on this project, you've gone overboard. but seriously, acura's are nice cars for the money, just make sure you keep checking the oil and stay on top of maintenance and you'll be fine.

good luck and keep us updated

Thanks for the actual help, this is pretty much what I was looking for. I didn't actually buy the car, it was passed down from my dad when he got his new car, so I haven't put any money into it, and I would feel bad selling it because he just gave it to me. My dad and I have actually talked about replacement chips, but I have no idea even where to start looking for one. And what are test pipes?

This. All of this.

you can probably get ~$5000 for your Integra + the $5000 you want to spend on your car, you can have a really quick car.

Since Saab Auto went under, you can get a late 90's 900s or Aero for super cheap. They're trimmed nicely, have a stock turbo, and can be much faster with an intake, exhaust, and tune. Get sway bars, a steering rack brace, and heavier springs and you'll be set for a while. You can find them for probably $3000.

just get exhaust and an intake, I swapped out the exhaust an intake in my mazda 3 and it yielded decent results in terms of speed and overall performance. no point in dropping anywhere near 5 grand into your car.

No not really and I told him on the first page to sell his car and buy a car made for actual drivig. Not just a car that gets you from A to B., and. Wong he knows nothing about cars just leave it. I've done a few mods to my car which is a Doge Charger but then again I do some times race it for very small amounts of cash.

you want a B16 engine. Tune it up to so you can get the peak of your power on that mid range of the power band. These engines just rev to infinity, and have so much pep. Trying to make this a top speed highway monster would just be a waist of time.

Also i think Brettski showed you a picture of a JDM face conversion, i think thats a key way to go. I think full Type R conversions are so badass. Just check out Spoon, Mugen, Jun, HKS, Tomei, J's Racing for a few companies that make some quality parts ( also expect to pay some quality cash for these parts).

there is some pretty good misinformation here. for 1k youre basically going to get just a set of wheels and rubber unless you snag a used set. A ECU for a honda doesnt really do shit unless you have a new set of cam gears/shafts so dont bother with an ecu. most coils out on the market are pure garbage, so beware of "cheap coils"... you go to adjust these cheap coils after have been on your car a few months and the adjustment collar is going to be siezed.

honestly, i would just drive your car and spend your time researching what your next car will be so it could be a better starting platform.

You need a good chunk of change to make a real amazing integra without having a good platform to start.

you make some solid points, but honestly, in all my tuner experience with honda (god i hate saying that), everything i said is realistically attainable for 1000. just LOOK for deals, they are out there.

and disregard what he said about the ECU chipping part, do it, it will help, and expect that to be around 150 dollars.

and like you asked running a test pipe is basically just cutting off your catalytic converter, and putting a hollow pipe in. I'm not saying this is legal, but tuned accordingly it helps.

like others have said, its allll about the cold air intake here. keep your eyes on things maintenance wise, don't beat the shit out of it, and your car will be set, and you'll enjoy it. just don't expect to be fast. if you want to go fast, come for a ride in my 20 valve audi. just bring some baby wipes to clean your shit off my 20 year old bolstered sport leather.

Ok then let's race our cars if mine is such a peace of shit. O no wait you momy and dady still pay for your shit even tho your 23. Guess I win the race because you don't even own your own car.

Lol. Yes, because my FJ Cruiser is soooo fast. Do I have to use my daily driver, or can I choose from the rest of my cars?

flame deacls, racing stripes, and one of those blue, square sunoco stickers are the easiest and most effective mods. adds 50hp easy

have fun! for all bolt ons do it with a friend that has the knowledge but lets you do all the labor. starts to give you a good idea of whats going on in that auto-mo-beeeel.

rocket engines and a 6 foot tall spoiler should make it hella fast. Also make it hella flush and get maximum tint on the windows and get the biggest subs you can buy
