I Have a 2001 Acura Integra. How can I make it fast?

So here's the deal - I have a 2001 Acura Integra and I want to make it fast. I also want to mess around with stuff like exhaust systems and work on the suspension to reduce body roll and such. Since I have absolutely 0 auto experience, I'm hoping that someone else on here does and can recommend some brands/parts/ideas to help me out. +k for actual help

Hahahahahahahahahahahahahaha that's all I'm going to say I am not going to help you. That car I going to look so stupid if you mod it because at the end I the day it's still an Acura.

this. basically, try and make your engine as quiet as possible, mak sure all the noise comes out the back and sounds like a leaf blower.

well Acura's aren't really shitty at all, and this is just the car that I have so I want to make it as fun as possible. thanks for the free bump! BTW I know that the huge wings and overly huge exhausts are gay as fuck, so that's not what i'm trying to accomplish.

You gotta put neon lights everywhere underneath it. The force of the light going down towards the ground creates an upward force on the car (newton's third law) which makes it lighter and therefore faster. That's why all the racers have lights underneath.

First off, you probably shouldn't do anything because you have no experience. However, if you want to make your car fast, swap a turboed b18 into your car. Take it to a shop and have the block bored and sleeved. Then upgrade almost EVERY internal component of the engine. Now that you've dropped 15,000 into your fucking integra, it should be fast. Also throw some coilovers on it.

Well my sister had a 1995 Acura legend and it ran great with regular maintainence. With that being said I agree with you. Why spend a balls ton of money into a car when you can save that money and buy a nmodern car that stock would be just as good, if not, better than the tricked out one your gonna have.

Ok. I'm not looking to just dump a whole lot of money into this thing, like 5 grand max. I was thinking doing stuff like an intake, small turbo, headers, exhaust system, stuff like that. I am not touching the body AT ALL, except to maybe fix the paint that chipped around the mirrors.

only way to make that car fast is to toss a turbo on there , my buddie has one that pretty clean and goes ok, but he built the engine and has dropped atleast 14 grand in it plus the cost of the car. I would reccomend getting a rear wheel drive car that has a stock turbo if you want to go fast for cheap

your car + 5 grand will buy you a much better car. I know that i used to have aspirations like this for an accord. I didn't do it and I do have a mechanical background. It's simply not worth it, and wont pay off the way that you want it to.

if you want a car thats not necessarily fast, but is quick and fun to drive, put on a good cold air intake (not a short ram), some nice high flow headers, and probably 2.25 exhaust all the way back from there. then google hondata and read up on some tuning options. at this point you wont have a lot of money invested and the car will be at least slightly faster. now upgrade some suspension components so it can atleast handle well. at this point you should have a "quick" car that is fun to drive.

btw if your car is an automatic, disregard everything i just posted and throw in a nice sound system. your money will be better spent on that

this purple civic sputtered by my school last week, it was funny. it had a large spoiler and purple rims too, and it totally sounded like a very fast lawn mower.

as for you, i heard putting an ns sticker on it gives it +20 horsepower

Fuck that, I wouldn't consider doing anything to it if it weren't a 5 speed. I've actually never had to replace the clutch even after about 180xxx miles on it

i have a 2003 jetta diesel wagon and i put a spoiler on the back and modded out the exhaust and now it goes 0-60 in 18 seconds

What you need to do is take the side rear view mirrors off the the car and attach them to the roof what this does is make the sides of the car way more areodynamic and with the mirrors on the roof it creates a stream line effect that together generates 50 to 60 km/h faster.

Good luck you fucking tard. This stuff is expensive. A common tip for you that you should seriously consider: it's considerably cheaper to buy an already built tuner, then to try and build that identical car from ground up. You can swap in some headers, and a straight exhaust, but if you want REAL CONSISTENT performance, you'll need more then five grand..

good thing that four banger dont need headers it just needs a header or if you turbo it a turbo manifold.

with this little car knowledge you dont want a fast honda. you will need to be able to work on it and I can tell you cant do that.

Did you expect me to check this thread every five minutes or something? and to the post above me, I'm not looking for something to actually go and race any serious people in, just something to make the car quicker and more fun to drive. a turbo and exhaust kit will run me about 3.5 grand, and my buddy's dad has auto experience so he can help me.

Actually, because of terminal velocity, it's very likely that if you dropped it from an airplane it would not go as fast as it's top speed on flat highway.

Well since everyone here is talking shit Ill try and help you out. Im just going to assume that your dont have a GSR and your car is an auto. With that said, all you have is a re-badged civic with a facelift. The only advantage that you have is that your car is extremely light compared to most, which means less HP for more speed (Good for you). The only thing an exhaust is going to do is make your car sound like shit/popcorn maker and make you hate your life. With a 1.6 liter gains arent that great. A turbo on an N/A engine is never a good idea. The internals werent made for it and youll wind up blowing your shit. I know some people have reliably boosted single cam hondas, but I have no clue what kind of engine you have and am a subaru boy and havent looked into it that much. If I were in your shoes, I would do a K20 or H22 swap, which are the engines out of JDM preludes I think. Heres a vid of a K20 Eg hatch, but keep in mind that they weigh like 1900 pounds and this one is stripped, so it weighs a crazy amount less than your car. Youll get a reliability of a stock engine with a swap some awesome gains, making them perfect if its your daily. Heres a vid to watch while you think.

Plus the extra gas money haha. Just spend the 3.5grand on a ski trip to Argentina or something or go heli skiing next season way more fun.

Unlike all these people ripping on you, if you want to start small.. id recommend a cold air intake. its a pretty easy deal and its a great start to making your car fast. these performance air filters for a cold air intake can be bought at any autoparts store such as advanced auto parts. next id recommend removing the stock muffler, you commonly lose a lot of horsepower to those things. buy something after market

I wouldn't mess with it. Youll end up spending way more money than you were looking too and it will probably have problems + maintenance needs which cost more money so in the end you should just save up for a car that is actually meant to go fast

Modding your car would cost a considerable amount of money to make it go fast, not to mention a high chance of it getting stolen. Things like this, a highly modded intrega will be tempered with, or if they really want it, they will tow it. A 2001 Integra actual holds a lot on its resale value very good depending on where you live. I do like driving modded honda's and acura's done right, they are very fun, though not the "fastest" on the strip, but I mean it cost so much and in the end its not worth it. Look into selling the car and seeing how much you can get for it, I tempted to see if you can get a RSX with it. Being NS, everyone is gonna want you to get a WRX

Don't even try.. If you now have no idea how to maintenance your car, you're going to be having a lot of work and problems.

jks, just drill couple of holes into your exhaust, and use pure alocohol as gasoline! You'll be going FAST!

lol. love the haters in this thread.

OP if you didnt get a GSR, dont bother modding it unless youre willing to fork over cash for a new motor (ITR , GSR) because honestly, you wont get shit out of it without a motor swap or a turbo install. If its not a GSR just test the waters with the car do basic upkeep work and such to see if you enjoy turning wrenches. Once youre ready you could move up to an ITR or GSR and start the money pit.

Dont mind the haters, most people who dont know a thing about cars like to hate on acura and honda.
