Hey Newschoolers, I have 30 hours in Hawaii this weekend. I have never been, what would you guys recommend keeping in mind my time constraints.

I would ideally like to go see something scenic,( short hikes etc) i will have a car, and will spend 4ish hours on the beach Friday afternoon, that leaves all day Saturday to sight see before catching a flight home Saturday night.

thanks everyone!

yeah dude, my dads an airline pilot and i will be to old for free flights in November so im in cross things off the travel list mode.

Which island? If you're on Maui and want to surf, go to the north shore for bigger waves. Also, go to the top of Diamond head, the view is incredible.

Something I learned in college: Girls from Hawaii wear THE sexiest bathing suits ever.

I'd sugget hanging out on the beach.

Whales. Volcanoes. Dog the Bounty Hunter. The 3 staples of Hawaiian culture. I expect you to see all 3 and report back with pictures as evidence.

I shit you not, if you see a Zippy's, you pull the fuck into that parking lot and go clown on some food. You will likely be surrounded by an abundance of locals, but just act like a regular and order the Zip Pac or the Teriyaki Beef. I have been craving this place since I was last there a year ago. Mainly, just try to eat local food and not your typical American food - it's cheaper too. Other than that, do some touristy shit like see some lava and spend hours on the beach. Surf and cliff dive if you have the opportunity. Have fun.

Yeah but when you are referring to going to the north shore to surf big waves, you're talking about THE North Shore.. on Oahu, don't get so technical.

"the north shore" when referred to regarding hawaii and waves its common knowledge to refer to oahu. And unless you want to surf jaws on the north shore of maui, id steer clear. and oahu for that matter.

go to naish beach in maui and take a kitesurfing lesson

drive from paia in maui down to hana. the road is famous and shows you all this awesome rainforest and you end up in an awesome historic town that feels very untouched despite the amount of traffic it gets from tourists. it's a good way to spend the day and sightsee

ya brah, go surf some pipe

jeez this is funny. If you want to learn to surf go to waikiki. Besides the surfing on the north shore, its also a sick area. Haleiwa is a cool little town
