I hate to make this thread.

I see so many Which ski for me? threads which is why I don't like making this thread. But anyway I think I need a new pair so here goes:

I'm 5'8 140 and ski big sky. I have a pair of 169 Seths that I find a bit short, so I will probably be selling these and replacing them with this ski. I also have a pair of Reno Rockers coming for park.

So basically I want a ski that can handle everything that the Rockers can't. I want something fairly fat (110+) that is versatile enough to handle pow, crud, trees, and occasionally park. I want something that's stiff enough to handle the fair bit of charging that I do. I was considering Obsetheds, but I think I want something a bit stiffer.

It seems like there isn't too many skis like this but maybe it's just me. Thanks for the help.

for charging... line mothership or dynastar legend pro riders or maybe ants?

for everything... jjs or bibbys if you want rockered, thugs? they maybe be too soft tho, gotamas could be dope, a lil narrower than you wanted, i think the kuro is the fatter version of that?

i think those are my suggestions

Rossi s6. reasonably stiff ski, 110mm under foot, by all acounts likes to be charged on.

The suggestion of Bibby's is a good one. I was so close to buying them myself!

The new Rossi Steeze (I think the s6) is a sick nasty ski. Same with Armada JJs, you can't go wrong with either of those. Very different bc/big mountain skis but they will work for what you ask. If you want something that works park you might wanna go a little thinner.

Possibly the 07/08 JJ's(not sure on how the new ones would handle everything you listed), or maybe Ant's if you felt strong enough to handle a ski that big.

Or, like mentioned above, the S6 or Mothership's.

Also, maybe look into maybe some Head SUPERMOJO 105's in a 181? Just a thought

Thanks for all the suggestions guys...

So I have a question.

What are the relative flexes of both the Bibby and S6 and what could you compare the flexes too? Thanks

S6 has a medium to stiff flex. The bibby is supposedly medium to medium stiff under foot whilst being slightly softer at the tips and tails. I've taken that from another thread that's been going on here so check that out for more info.

Wow there are way more choices than I thought. I just was looking at the 4Frnt VCT and EHP. Would these be good skis to add in the mix?

well those are completely different skis. I would not include the EHP but definitely include the VCT. I have not heard a single bad review.

^^Err actually I dunno if they are stiffer than the obsetheds but its something to think about, they fit your criteria pretty well~

4Frnt VCT or Armada JJ

im super jealous you get to ski big sky, i take trips there sometimes and its rediculously sick!

Ok I think I have it narrowed down to either the 182 VCT or Bibbys. From what I've gathered, it seems like the VCT will be a bit stiffer and better suited to charging, whereas the Bibbys will be a bit softer and more of a playful ski. Am I right?

Also, will 186 be manageable with me being 5'8? Thanks again.

If you already have a park ski why r u looking for a pow ski that works in the park...if its a pow day yer not gonna go ski park. There are many makes that r "all mountain" but obviously if u just wanna pow ski they r different.

POW

Im 3 inches taller than u and the same weight and im getting Armada JJs

other skis are Obsethed..Bibbys..Prophets..Sir Francis Bacons..EP Pro

It can't hurt to have some versatility. I want a ski that works well in the pow but can charge, trees etc... and the Bibby and VCT seem like good choices for that.

bibbys will not only be extremely fun in the trees, but they will also kill charging, obviously they wont be as good as vcts charging, but they will definitely still be fine. also, i see where youre coming from, sometimes i might just go take a run or two in the park to try crazy tricks into the powder. go for bibbys they will be a way more playful ski. plus moment is the shit, i have some jibs coming tomorrow.

id go with the 179 obSETHed, rips the pow, and the steeps. took mine off the chutes over by moonlight but on the big sky side super sick

After some more research, I'm really feeling the Bibbys. The only thing holding me back is the 186 length. I'm coming from 169 Seths so I don't know how hard the transition will be, but I suppose I should just grow a pair and go for it.

now youre talking, im 5 8 too and if i had the money for those id get em too, but i need my money for bindings and hotdogger boots.

ants might be too long they are like 190 sumtin?????

umm i would look at the jjs obsethed bibbys maybe???i havent looked at the sizing tho
