I hate Southern California

So i'm stuck down here untill the 18th because of finals and will be driving straight to tahoe and skiing the 19th. Yesterday I tried to get my foils mounted and the first shop I went to they didn't have a tech (I called beforehand and they said the tech was in). Decided to try another shop, spoke to a tech about bending the breaks of my 914's and he had never heard of anything like that, or what wide breaks were. Oh and he had never seen foils before. End of story my skis still aren't mounted and might not be by the time I hit the snow.

Oh and the shop without a tech offered me a job, they're desperate.

Norcal is gay. im all over westeasternCAL fuck yeah! ( i made this screename before the gay ass fuckign NORCAL shit went off.. alot of norcal is a shithole and i deffinatly dont want to rep that shit) TAHOE FO LIFE>!

the weather may not be conducive to skiing, and a lot of the people may not be the sharpest knives in the drawer, but damn if the opportunity for creative possiblities isn't huge.

People from Southern California suck. Stuck up pieces of shit that won't even give you the time of day. Anyways, a little off topic sorry.

well being born and raised here is a love hate relationship.

Its basically a paradise that developers, and politians have ruined and totally overcrowded. But its still nice to know you can ski some rowdy, steep lines at Mt. baldy, and then go surf that afternoon. No other place like it on earth...you just gotta make your way through all the gapers, traffic jams, and snowboarders to get the goods. The real California,,, the So cal. of that is now choked with over-devopement and greed. I hate developers!

PS to all of you who live in Utah, Oregon, and Colorado...Dont let em do what they did to California.

I love SoCal, and would move back in a heartbeat. Perfect? Absolutely not, far from it, but no place in the world packs as much human experience, natural variety, and that edgy mix of heaven and hell as SoCal.

Viva Los Angeles!

alright i need some info., im going to visit my brother in san diego over christmas break, whats the closest mountain WORTH driving to? bear mountain?

I hate california in general. I do not discriminate between North California or South California

Theres a shop in the valley called skisports.net. They are in Studio City in the shopping plaza off of Ventura and Tujunga. They have real techs working there and will bend brakes if you ask them. Cool guys to talk to and they have the best boot fitter in so. cal. also.

WORTH driving? If you consider a drive to Mammoth, probably 7 hours, worth it.

Bear Mountain is cool if the all park is your thing. Aside from that, Mt Baldy is the best for skiing, BUT only when there is snow.

Norcal SUCKS copared to socal

Its always crap weather in norcal and the girls are the hottests in socal the snow and beach are awesome.

Best Shop In Socal Hands down only skis they know tons of info great tunes and mounting and fat brakes and different mounting points they know all that shit its the only place to even consider.

I work in Venice, live in Santa Monica across the street from the beach, and have no problem with how overcrowded it is because I moved out from NYC, so I'm used to that shit. The chicks are for the most part hot and for the most part clueless, which is fine with me. I wouldn't even bother walking into a ski shop anywhere around here.

I just skiied Mammoth for the fist time last weekend and it was awesome, I'll be driving back up next thursday for 4 more days.

Party scene is cool if you can deal with a few d-bags here and there, and running into and hanging out with random celebrities is just as funny as it is shallow.

So hooray for SoCal, you've converted a jaded-mostly stressed out New Yorker into a laid back and chillin' SoCal Venice dweller.

Ya gotta watch out for those V-13 crips though.

i remember when the county i lived in was just like any other county. it had a beach next to it thats all. now its this fucked up PR circus because some dick heads decided to market the shit out of it.

i will tell you one thing though, so much creativity is spawned near where i live and its the reason companies like RVCA, Volcom, Armada, Oakley, GrnApple Tree, Howe and so many others call it home.

finally found a cool tech, though he's never bent brakes before. He was like, i'll try and if i mess them up I'll just get you wide brakes no charge. For those of you wondering, he's originally from northern california. I guess that's proof enough.

but in socal we can (from la) get up early and go surfing or something, take a drive, ski at big bear, drive back to la, watch a tight concert, get some good drugs and stuff and pass out in the 60 degree weather alll in one day. woo. i dont surf or wake up early though

where in so cal you at? I grew up down there. Born in Santa Monica, lived in Temecula area.. and now been living in the wilderness out towards Tahoe.

The same is also very possible in northern california, except with better mountains and waves. Last spring we skied Kirwood, then went waterskiing and ended the day with a swell in Santa Cruz.

i was going to say. SD is so amazing. their sound is something that noone will ever be able to duplicate, and they have been kicking it for so long
