I hate my SFB’s

I tried. I bought a playful, surfy, “fun ski. I cannot ski this way, I need to destroy the mountain, I need to straight line icy moguls, and braap over rocks. Basically, I’m looking for recommendations for a ski that will destroy the mountain?

’22… the ones that have a speed limit of about 30-40mph

Yeah, opd sfbs were good, can't imagine the new ones.

You want to look for a ski that is either heavy hard wood (maple, beech, ash w/ another wood and/or metal) and poppy, or a ski that is heavy with relatively soft wood (fir, aspen as well as integrating harder woods to a secondary extent with metal if you fancy that) and very dense.

The latter set up is the best for crushing crud and absorbing vibrations and shockwaves at speed. Find a ski with urethane sidewall integration or rubber in tips and tails or along edges and you'll definetly have less trouble at speed. Generally the heavier the ski, the better it will be at speed but also take into consideration the woods used and overall build and other materials they may use. Generally heavier, denser wood, full side wall construction integrating rubber/urethane, metal in the core, though that's not always the case, and a good amount of camber underfoot is your best bet to have a bomber ski.

The very old 2013 influence 105's and 115's were crub crushers, same with the larger length supernatural 108's with rubber and metal. Volkl mantra is also a crud crusher.

You need metal.

As small of a ski as you're comfortable skiing with as much metal in it as possible.

Go crush gigantic tech lines in them.

That'll give ya a workout!

I was skiing a 193 mindbender 108ti. I liked that, maybe I will go back. I was also looking at the volkl katana as an option…I wish I liked skiing slow :( I want to like the buttery noodles that are the sfb’s, I just don’t.

Buttery noodles have their time and place. They can be fun to bro down and slash turn if you're feeling the vibe ?

Give the SFBs a few more days to reveal themselves.

Split your time with the mindbenders?

Of all the woods you mentioned, you did not mention the one that is known for being damp and heaviest trucking of them all: bamboo

Still have a pair of pretty minty 105's down in the garage. Might mount them up this year.

They're stormriders right? Every now and then I see a used pair for sell and contemplate the cop for the coral reef days

The commander and the mantra 102 look like soldi options, maybe all the chatter on the sfb’s is user error, though and I just need to get good… appreciate everyone’s recommendations

Idk how you ended up with Bacons if that is your goal. ‘Designed by a 140 lb artsy half snowboarder…’ yeah that sounds about right for my race team nights… lol

ON3P Jeffrey. Get em longer than you honestly should. 108 underfoot if you’re out west

That mindbender is such a huge ski, I just can't imagine any normal-sized person overpowering it. It's like having a bowling ball on each foot.

Maybe it's that you want to trench in deeper?

If you're used to always going bigger size-wise, cutting wake on heavy skinny's would give you a pretty fresh challenge. At the very least, it'd turn you into a freeride killing machine on the Mindbenders.

You still get the same thrill of barreling down, but you make a bunch of additional hard stabby turns.

Maybe get some

Though the blackops are poplar core and poplar isn't really known for dampness. I think blackop 115 is damp and bomber due to its weight and sidecut and camber alone. I think something with a very dense wood like bamboo w/ metal, fiberglass and rubber along edge or in tips and tales is a good option for destroying crud and ice moguls if you plan to go straight through them and break your ankles.

I wanted to be more like Eric pollard and ski like that when I got the skis, I realize now that I’ve skied them i will never ski like that, and even though it looks dope and fun when other people do it, it’s not fun for me.

Fair enough. I couldn’t ever ride his shit either because I am too big. Pollard designed skis for pollard that much is true

Just got some 193 volkl confessions. Never had skied a ski like em..117 underfoot, carbon metal wood core, heavy as hell. They like to go really fast. They will ski hard over everything,

Rossignol blackops in whatever with you prefer.

I think there's a bigass difference between the blackops escaper and the OG blackops wideboi ski. Previously the blackops gamer I think? One is slightly less noodly than the Sky 7 the other is a real charging powder ski that goes through anything. You want the wide one.

Yeah do it. No matter how shitty the conditions, you always have an edge

Stormriders truck. They’re awesome

Yep! While everyone else is survival side slipping down chalk-dusted coral reef, we're connecting beautiful turns like it ain't nothing but soy milk

⛷???⛷

Blizzard Rustler 11s

ON3P billygoat

fischer rangers

Praxis (the ones that drew tabke uses)

those are just the ones I can think of right now

Another vote for Jeffreys. Definitely the most fun ski I’ve ever owned. Super hard charging, playful, yet stable. Wouldn’t wanna straight line mogul fields on anything else
