they are so gay. i loved so many underground bands and now MTV discovers them and overplay them so it makes me hate the bands. plus, once its on TRL you see 10 year old "punk" girls running around wearing the band t-shirts because theyve heard one song and its most likely the bands worst song. Fucking MTV is thw worst thing to ever happen to music. first it was Fear Before the March of Flames, then The Chariot, Norma Jean (before they broke up) and now Hawthorne Heights.

That's kinda selfish. These bands you 'like' and 'support' have hit it big and everybody likes them now. Other people like them. Very gay, pseudo punky trick ass bitches like them, but it's good for them. You should be happy that they're able to play their music for all to hear.

I feared Modest Mouse when they were discovred by MTV. Luckily, they still sound good though. But what I can't stand are all the other 7th grade bitchs who have their "punk girlz" t shirts and mini skirts and their blue mini iPods with nothing but single songs from bands that were on MTV. even without mtv though, queer little dykes are gona do something gay and obnoxious that they feel will better music, while in actuallity it just makes me and many others want to put a gun to their head and end their life. MTV may be THE way to 'ruin' music at the moment, but imagine being in a band, not getting any publicity outside of your area, and them BAM! You're on the most popular teenage station around, gettin your junk pounded by hot bitches. Imagine it.

I hate people who refuse to listen to their favorite bands once they get "discovered." Are you not counter-culture enough if all your friends have suddenly heard of them? listening to bands is not about the image of yourself that listening to that certain band projects. It is simply about the music. If you were a true fan of those bands in the first place you would be happy that they are finally getting regonition for what they do.

 
^ most of the time its not the fact that the band got discovered that makes me not like them, its the fact that after they got discovered their sound changes.

My theory, and it holds true for so many of my favorite bands, is that the bands first album is the best. Then, unless they can ignore any sort of popularity they get, the albums decrease in greatness.

getting "discovered" usually equates to "multi-record-contract" which basically mean the artists are then forced to put shit out by certain deadlines, under the supervision of big name execs, making them suck far more than their previous recordings which were made at their own pace without the person signing their checks breathing down their necks

they don't even play music anymore unless it's 4 in the morning (trl doesn't count). even mtv2 doesn't play music that often anymore.

 
Hawthorne Heights kicks ass, and the good thing about them being on MTV(NTV) is that they get a little more coverage than they would otherwise. HH is never going to be on TRL, they are never going to be huge because no little 14 year old girl can stand the emotion (screaming) that their music posesses.

yes MTV sucks VH1 is like a billion times better. i too hate it when they over play one song from a band and people wont stop singing it and they dont know any other songs or anything. its kinda good for the musicians though. it gives them money but it kinda ruins theyre music and reputataion which is in my opinin better than money.

but then again, i know nothing.

i do watch MTV a lot cuz we have cable and there is barely anything on anymore. i also watch comedy central which is also owned by MTV networks.

people have to stop being so selfish and wanting bands all to themselves. too many people take so much pride in the fact that they know bands that other people dont, and they're somehow ruined when people find out about them

sounds like a lot of spiteful hate if you ask me. i don't watch mtv... i didn't think they still played music. but if you like the band. who cares what station is playing them. do you still like the music? i guess it'd be different if i woke up and all my favorite bands were on mtv. but it's kind of like something you have to come to terms with. instead of being angry when 'your little secret awesome band' gets discovered (whether by someone else, or the media monster) you just have to be happy because obviously if you like it you believe it's good so why shouldn't everyone else like it to? elitism? i don't know.... but i think my chemical romance is fucking shitty.
