I had to make a Reel today for a potential job

not sure. i figured, he got the gist in 2-minutes, but if he wanted to watch more he could+i kinda just had all the clips in a folder and didnt want to delete them.
 
Yeah for sure, its definitely a little different since you already have the client you're just showcasing.

How did you get into the industry ? I'd like to exchange few words with you if you don't mind, I study cinematography in France looking forward in working in freeski film industry.
 
sickest thing i have watched in a LONG time. some of those shots of simon are classic. I used ot replay that road gap shot so much when i was younger. dude is the reason im skiing today. amazing reel
 
I wish I had a cameraman that has a fraction of your talent and passion. Most if not all my edits are self-shot, self edits. Its hard and too fucking time consuming
 
but when you realllllyyy have a passion for this stuff it isnt time consuming that much anymore, nor hard . i guess !

Yeah, but this season is my 4th self shot self edit and it will get ignored like the other 3. I feel like I have no support, no love and no reason to film; except for remembering what I did that year.

This time filming was a chore; walking up the mountain with the camera on record, hitting a booter 20X and hike every single shot, get 1000 gopro shots that are worthless, sort each shot that is over 20 mins long... Passion can only go so far. If I could get one person to help me with the lens and editing; I would be reborn.
 
Damn man I hope I never have to film myself, that sounds like a pain. I ski solo but I don't think I'm good enough to warrant recording yet so it's not really an issue. I'm hoping next year my snowboarder friend will start filming for me. Otherwise I'm gonna be in a pickle like you.
 
i absolutely love designing, building, and shooting. there isn't a day that goes by in my life that i don't think about these 3 things. i try and shoot in the snow from october to the end of june. there isn't one genre i like more than the other. park, street, bc jumps, bc big mountain, scenics, all of it has equal value to me. i believe no matter where you are, if there is snow, you can always make something new and different happen. and to the guys hiking and shooting themselves, i've done that and it had its high points. sure its tough, but you are out in the snow hiking to hit a jump or rail and capture the moment on video, how bad can that be? i've been shooting since i was 19, so almost 18 years now at 37 in april. i feel more motivated then ever and i'm stoked that skiing is progressing each and every day; not only in the tricks, but the media as well. i can remember every single shot in this edit like it was yesterday. part of me wishes i would have spent a week or so editing this, but really, who cares? i don't. i have a place in my heart for all the skier's and snowboarders shown, without them, i wouldn't have the smile i do right now when i watch this. remember, every one of us is incredibly lucky to have the health and opportunity to be in the snow on skis/snowboard, let alone a camera to capture the moment. praise to whomever or whatever created all of this life and earth.
