Recently I went and chilled w my cousin in Huntington and he tried teaching me how to surf, I find it difficult, but so damn fun. Anyways, after watching "September Sessions" with some friends, I remembered that I still had TBC and War in my car. I asked everyone if they wanted to check out some new school skiing, and everyone gave me shit for not snowboarding.

So I threw in War, and the room fell silent, everyone was amazed, and wanted to rewind some seggies. The next night we watched TBC and they liked it even better.

My cuz was like "I had no fuckin idea skiing was that cool." The public's perception of skiing still has some catching up to do.

It's cool to clue people in on the scene. Anyone have similar experiences? I want to hear some.
 
thats so awesome, i also turned 3 kids who were snowboarders to skiers because i was like well skiers are more thug and chicks will like you more which probably helped considering one of my friends was black and from the city, haha
 
i showed my little brother who snowboarded war, and then he started skiing now hes mad good he can do like 540s already and hes only 7

Nice. Yeah 1 of my friends converted from board to skis last yr and he got good a jibbing sooo quick. He talks shit about how fun it is to all his boarding friends.
 
no man I show TBC to kids at my school and they're like "that shits hella gay, whats with all this gay techno shit, hes not even doing any rodeos, blah blah blah"

everyone at my school thinks skiers are still in the whole daffy/twister age with warren miller flicks and shit.
 
urban isnt gay, but 40 minutes of it shot with a crappy camera put to annoying music is rather bunk in my opinion.
 
i hate explaining what twin tips are to people, i feel like an idiot and they always say "dont most kids your age snowboard?"
 
This is not an urban love/hate thred. Urban is cool. The point is have you repped skiing for kids that didn't kno or conversion stories
 
I love showing them the video of a sw cork 7 dub true nose then a video of a backflip and they cant get over how cool the backflip is.
 
yea i agree its all aobut the back flip, like when i am on school firld trips every one is like do a back flip! like every run when i was doing sw 9's but they dont care, as long as ur up side down ur pro aparently lol
 
one time i had a project in health where u pasted pictures of things u liked and i posted a pic of a skier hitting an urban rail and people thought it was amazing. they didn't know that you could do rails on skis especially not an urban

i wish ppl new more about what skiing really is, an also rollerblading.

most ppl think rollerblading is like ice skating with wheels, like no tricks
 
its the best when you go skiing with people you know who snowboard and give you shit the whole ride up there for it and then when you get there they cant board for shit and the skiier is the one throwin it down in the park. My friends and I have probably converted 5 or 6 people from our school last year in one season.
 
yea I know a lot of people that switched to skiing, people are starting to take notice how crazy skiing is getting.
 
public television isnt helping, there are skiing shows on all the time showing "newskool skiing" and it ends up being pencil 3s off 5 foot tables and backflip backscratchers
 
if i show kids at school ski movies, some of them like them but most of them are just like "cool" and pretend to like it even though they really don't care.
 
yeah i definetly got two snollerbladers and two snowboarders to switch over...too bad they are already all better than me haha
