I have never posted a rant thread, but this deserves it. I have a ski pass that allows me to ski at 3 different resorts, so on saturday i decided to go to one of them that i had never gone to. Keep in mind while you read this that more than half of the park skiers on the East Coast have stolen rental poles. So i was going up the lift for my second run of the day, when one of the lifties confiscated my pole and said that i couldn't use it because it had no basket. He told me to go to rentals and grab one. I skied down to rentals and went over to the rack and grabbed a pole. The rental employee approached me and the conversation went like this:him: You know you need to rent those?me: ok, where do i rent themhim: no, i know what you are doing, you guys come in here all the time and steal my kiddie poles.me: no im not, i was told to grab one by the liftiehim: no you are stealing, come with meHe called security and accused me of hiding the pole under my tall t and trying to walk out. The poles were right in front of me in my hand and i was in no way trying to hide them. I was charged for theft of service, because i never actually stole anything. It was so BS. Security clipped my ticket for the day, banned my pass for a week, made me pay full price for my ticket, for the pole rental that i never got and a theft of service fee, called my parents and i now have to write them a letter of apology before i can get my pass back. They destroyed my weekend. And we are getting the first real snow of the season this weekend.
 
thats fucked, i mean COME ON! who the fuck calls security for stealing kiddie poles? seriously, these guys should piss off. i bet the day ticket costs more than the freakin poles.

Ive never EVER seen a rental employee tell some they need to rent poles...
 
It is still theft, right? You got caught? Pay the price.

It is probably not fair that they suspended your ticket and call your parents etc. but don't steal rental poles and you'll be on the safe side,eh?
 
if you read it he got his own poles taken and then he was told to grab rental ones.

doesn't make sense to me that they think hes stealing them.

 
exactly, i was told to get some, i was never told to rent them. At all the other resorts i go to, the pole rack is outside and anyone could grab them, i always assumed that you rented skis and boots, and if you wanted poles, you could get them.
 
Can you call the resort saying your side of the story?

your situation is fucked. Did you get your confiscated poles back?
 
that exact thing happened to my friend a MSLM. they took a way his poles because he had no pole baskets because apperently you can stab someone with them.....

why do they bother enforcing that when you could just as easily stab someone with a knife. in your pocket...

They say you can "stab" someone if you fall and they end up getting a pole jabbed at them accidentally. They aren't saying one of their customers is going to use it as a weapon intentionally...

they have people walk down the slopes and take rental poles out of peoples hands.

they enforce rediculas rules.
 
Okay, I understand. The one who told you to get the poles should have backed you up somehow. I understood you stole them because you said "half the people on the EC skis with stolen kiddie poles".
 
ha roundtop is so gay. and we didnt get real snow. it snowed an inch and meted by the afternoon.
 
everyone i ride with including myself has rental poles from one of the three resorts. fuck that. make your apology letter real sarcastic and cocky.
 
I don't steal kiddie poles, they bend to easy. I just go to the lost and found and ask for ones that have been there for a long time
 
your "tall t" probably didnt help you much in this case. if you dress like a "gangster" you're going to be treated as one
 
My brother smacked me in the face with his ski pole.......i accidently rode into the back of him when he cut in front of me, had a cut up and puffy lip for like 1 1/2 weeks, sucked arse

I'll probably get flamed for this, but anyway...If somebody told you to shoot a guy, would you do it? Same type of thing. Whether you were told by an employee to do it or not, stealing is stealing. Shitty thing for the liftie to say knowing you could get caught? Sure. But the responsibility falls on you as the person who committed the crime.

from the original incident to when i was walking out of security, the story changed so much. I never even walked out of the rental place with the poles, he ASSUMED i would. Plus if i was dressed like a gaper, they would not have said shit to me. The rental guy definitely had some beef with park skiers, cuz i even asked to rent them and he was being such a fag.
 
I can't believe you let them do that to you. If you were just going to rent them then bring them back at the end of the day then I would have stayed and argued until I wasn't in trouble. I would have given them so much shit.
 
before security came, the rental guy told me that if i didn't cooperate, then the state police would get involved
 
they do bring them by the way. Had that happen to a friend, it was uber gay. Also, to add running from authorities is hard with ski boots and all your gear.

exactly, unless the person is a cop, dont give them your pass, id, or anything and just walk away, they cant do jack shit
 
as i said previously..... they do bring in the state police and employees won't have problems finding you as you are hobbling away to your car in ski boots loading your gear. They can just jot down your license plate or refer back to your pass ID info (if they got to see it or got your name). Then the statey's get you for fleeing and you are duly fucked. Once they got you, you pretty much have to submit, i mean i guess some ppl are lightning fast in ski boots, but not many (if any).

but you'll come to see all the security at liberty wt and roundtop are sooo fucking gay. One day i didnt have my season pass with me at liberty and they tried to make me pay for a full day ticket and a 50 charge for not having it becuase "people saw me on the lift without a ticket"

i said fuck that and laughed in the office

actually in all seriousness your best choice would have been to get the state trooper involved. They would have been rational and you couldve told your side of the story with them looking. They wouldnt just jump to conclusions
 
Wow, what was the guys name that accused you of "stealing' poles because I work in rentals and if it was the manager I will try to talk to him to see if he will let you go because I'm going to believe you and say it was an honest mistake.

At liberty the pole rack is outside, so people take them all the time. They got me for theft of service and not theft because i never actually took anything, I always assumed that you rented skis and boots and if you wanted poles you could grab some. I offered to rent after he told me i had too, and plus i was told to go grab some by an employee. I bet you a million bucks if i was dressed like a gaper, then he wouldnt have said shit. I no know what its like to be black in America. You cant assume what people are gonna do, based on what other people have done, its bull.
