and my parents arent letting me ski after 2 days of rest im perfectly fine and theyre just been dicks about it. they arent even letting me go to the hill and ski flat runs all day. so ive been stuck at home for the past two days. it sucks.

ive had 5 concussions, 3 severe where i had to stay at the hospital.

youre best to just wait cause there is a thing called second impact sydrome, i believe, and its like if you have concussion, and you hit your head again, you can die.

so chill for a few mroe days and then ski all winter no worries

^^did anyone see the football player in highschool who had that happen to him, hes mentally retarded now, and his whole life was fucked, cauz his coach wanted him to start a "highschool football gammmeeeeee"

Dude, I am studying sports medicine right now and that is the best thing you can do. You should even wait at least a week until you feel no headaches in order to return to your activity. If you have another concussion, even if its on the milder side, it could fuck your brain up forever. A concussion, by definition, is a temporary impairment of neural functions. You don't want to turn it into a permanent one. When you feel perfectly fine, wait at least 1 week until you start skiing or doing any other physical activity again.

i saw that, sad stuff

i think the helmet he was wearing was from like the '70s so he didnt have good protection, he also had more then one concussion during the game

just relax. being a vegetable isn't worth it. when I got mine though I was lucky because I had school the whole next week so I didn't have to worry about not skiing on my break.

i know im gonna sound like your mom here, but concussions are serious. way more serious than you are grasping.

you didnt just hit your head, the actual structure of your brain is swollen and the smallest blow to it could cause you to hemmorage and die very easily.

ive had 3 major concussions (loss of consiousness, partial amnesia) and i was in the same situation as you. i felt my parents were being unfair about the issue. i realize this now, the truth is my parents were caring about my safety. i didnt ride for a few weeks, and when i got back on skis i was as good as new.

obviously, your parents care about your well-being too. instead of being frustrated, take a step back and try to appreciate what they are doing for you right now.

be patient. in a week youll be skiing.

stayfresh is right, i have a friend who got one then fucked around too much and hemmoraged so he almost died and now he cant do anything really cause he always gets clots.

second impact syndrome, from playing hockey too soon after a concussion (ended up with 3 of them in a short time, I believe). Personality changed, got into drugs, failed out of school, kicked out of his house and then his mom was reading about concussions, brought him to a doctor, and they found out he had brain damage cause of the concussions.
