I genuinely can’t tell if this a joke or not

comments say apparently it’s for people with seizures

Makes sense but still just seems like someone will forget to take it off and get hurt, if someone got on a lift and said “I have epilepsy do you mind if I put the bar down” I don’t think anybody’s gonna say no it needs to stay up

If you get seizures regularly then you probably shouldn’t be skiing anyway or at least staying in the less risky areas of the mountain.

“Yeah man I sometimes get seizures, not stopping me from free solo climbing”

This seems like a good idea for little kids. Would give some piece of mind while riding up with them that shit can be nerve racking.

Yeah, I'm sure that harness will help when you have a seizure while skiing down the hill. What a dumb fucking idea.

not sure why someone would even consider selling that unless there's a legitimate use for it. all I see is a further hazard over just using the bar or not at all.

Lame take

I actually met a kid in like 2018 who made something like this for himself. He said that after a gnarly brain injury a couple years prior, he’s been having random seizures and feels a lot safer riding chairs if he can secure himself to them, bar down or not. He still loved skiing more than anything in the world and a couple seizures weren’t going to stop him.

Saw this same kid rip the meanest cork 9 blunt I’ve ever witnessed.

Clown this product all you want but if it inspires a single person to keep skiing despite their limitations, it’s a success in my book.

Props to him, that’s crazy but it seems like really high risk low reward

This reply alone made me support and like this product.

The harness seems like overkill. Swami style belts have been used forever for people with risk of seizures and other disabilities and it's usually used in conjunction with a person assisting to hook and unhook it. Imagine hating on a device that lets less able people enjoy skiing.

But yes for people who are just nervous on chairlifts this is extremely wack.

Yeah I get what you are saying but people who are afraid of having a seizure on the lift really shouldn’t be on the mountain. What’s stopping them from having a seizure while skiing then? That could be even more dangerous than falling off a lift. It’s probably a 50 50 shot on whether you have a seizure on the lift or while actually skiing. You see what I’m saying?

If your at a small mountain it’s like 90-10 that you’ll be on the lift

Could you imagine skiing being your pasion and favorite thing ever then hit your head and never able to do it again? It might not be the same for everyone but id take the risk and enjoy skiing.

Then that’s their decision to ski with the chance that they have a seizure and end up in a treewell or falling off the lift. All I’m saying is that this product can only help so much. You’re better off just not skiing if you are that afraid of having a seizure. It’s your decision if you wanna do that but that’s just my opinion. The product can’t stop you from having an episode and falling off a cliff or getting stuck in deep snow.

I mean kinda yeah. I basically did that.

I still ski but nowhere near the same capacity that I once did. No park, no jumps, no big cliffs, no upside down, and nothing out of my now way lower comfort level.

Yeah but it helps a little bit. Just like helmets, they can only help so much but they do help. There's tons of people out there with no chance of seizure who still fall off cliffs and get stuck in tree wells. They are a risk of skiing. People's lack of brain cells on the slopes are far more risky and common than people who might get a seizure. Stop being such a hater man

Not hating just saying. I’m talking about the product not dumbass people on the hill, I agree they can be just as dangerous.

The amount of effort you're putting in to discrediting a product that doesn't even apply to you indicates hate

The only use I actually see this having is for patrollers downloading with a guest that has hit their head. Even still that’s a bit of a stretch

I have a fear of heights. When I go to Silverton I wear a climbing sling as a belt and beener it to the chair and no one can tell. Helps my anxiety cause that chair whooph ?

Let’s not use slurs like that this is a safe space

Now I can finally piss off the chair while hanging from it like a chandelier

Why do that when you can do even better? I think there was a thread about shitting off a lift a year ago or so

Dude that's no joke,

It's the same polyester webbing used in mountaineering and rappelling equipment

And the aluminum carabineers are rated at 2500 pounds.

Surely it means business

For him just getting back out there I bet the reward was huge. Trevor Kennison type vibes

I get that but if he were to be unlucky enough to have a siezure mid air doing something huge that would be devestating

I'm fairly certain that's what happening every time a Bunchie boy tries to spin beyond a 180.
