Apparently i wrote this freshman year
Wtf?
19 April 1560
Today,
I am going to cook something special. I hope my wife likes it. I'm not
sure what I'm going to make but it should be interesting. I will use
some of the meat I have saved up. Here in the kingdom there is nothing
going on here in ytic glen. I hope that it picks up because it has been
kind of boring recently. Tomorrow I will plant a garden finally to get
some vegetables. I have been too busy recently with the rest of my crops
and animals. I will plant potatoes, carrots and celery. Also some time
this week Tom wants me to help with on of his animals. Lets hope it will
be quick and easy. My wife has encouraged me to write my letters to
stay smart, remember and keep track of the days.
20 April 1560
Today
I planted the garden. It is too much work but the wife wants it. I
don't even like vegetables very much. But what the wife wants she gets.
Here in yitc glen Hugh askew sold William Delmore a sick horse. I have
never trusted that man before and this just proves that her is
unreliable. Over in brick toweshire there are rumblings of a plot to
overthrow their king. It is not of my business. But why not? If they
don't like there king that is fine by me. Tomorrow I will go over to
tom’s farm. Why He cant deal with a sick goat. I don't know but I will
still go anyway. I wish that it will be quick so I can get back to my
own life sooner. My wife loved the roast pork I made she loved the
cooking and the meat. She wants pork more often but we don't have the
money to afford it. I will probably make it on Lammas or another holiday
April 21 1560
Today
I went over to tom’s farm to deal with his sick and mad goat. That goat
is not worth the trouble if gives us. He is trying to get its humors in
line. He said that he would get someone else to help later. Good thing
he always wants something from me and everyone else and we all have
better things to do that deal with a goat. In the kingdom today nothing
much is going on. But over in brick toweshire more sill death treats
against their kind and queen. You would think they would have better
thins to do. But they are always causing trouble you would think there
is something in the water. James wants to sell me one of his horses. I
don’t think I will but it because he wants way too much for it two
pounds is too much from some weak old horse that’s been around the
block.

Rumor
has it that someone is going to be punished for gossiping that always
seems like a worthless punishment because everyone does it. That horse
James tried to sell to me. It went off and died. It wasn't worth a
halfpenny let alone 2 pounds. He needs to think and get his humor in
line before he does things. Over in brick toweshire their duchess has
had an illegitimate child that is not the dukes. She has hid it from the
duke for a while these years. It even caused the duke to lose his
tennis match because he was so shocked. There is also a controversial
engagement that she and some others are all up in arms about. They
should just let them get married if they are truly in love. I wonder why
my wife keeps making me write be write this journal it seems like a
waste of time but she just says I will understand later. She sounds like
my dad.
April 25 1560
One
of those folk from brick towshire has come over here and charged with
some inappropriate business with the queen. That same guy is supposedly
involved in another assignation plot with four other guys. This is the
second time I have heard they don't want their king. Seems like to me
they need to get back to work and get their priorities straight. My wife
is complaining that we live too far away from the city. She also wants a
bigger house to start a family in. She needs to wait a while till I get
my farm rooted. Also I'm just a yeoman and she should be lucky with
what she has. There are people out there who are a lot worse off. But I
will still keep writing letters for her.

That rumor about gossiping came back up then disappeared again. Too bad
if you ask me it could have been something interesting going on in the
kingdom fro a change. But other than that there is nothing else going on
in the kingdom. Actually I forgot that King Valentine is having a
banquet for 3 men in poverty. It could be a good thing for someone in
poverty. I’m poor but not impoverished. Also I like to stay out of royal
business it always gets people in trouble. Ale and food is getting more
expensive I will have to grow more myself. Or just consume less.
Tomorrow is Whitsunday is should be and interesting time maybe I will go
into town for the festival.
April 27 1560
Today
is Whitsunday. I’m traveling into town on horseback. The reason I'm
going is for the festival. I haven't been in a couple of years and last
time it was great fun. They are going to have a tent set up with food
and ale. Good times will be had by all. But other than that there is
very little else going on. It’s just a nice and sunny spring day. My
wife is getting sick. A wise woman will come by today while I'm gone to
give her some herbs. To try to balance her humors. It is a cold so she
will feed her foods like Pepper, Sugar, Ginger, and Cinnamon. Because if
you have a cold you have too much phlegm in your system. The cure for
that is hot and dry food types. I hate when people get sick because you
have to say a blessing every time when they sneeze so the devil won’t
get in. I’m now going off to the festival.

The
festival yesterday was fun I had a very good time at it. I was kind of
worried that it wasn't worth the ride over into town. But it was
definitely worth it. I had a jolly good time. But again there is not
anything going on. It seems like everyone is hiding in a cave. The last
couple of days I have kind of taken a break from work at the farm. But
it needs done so I’m going to get back to work. There is plenty for me
to do. Every little thing is popping up to be fixed. Things like fixing a
fence. But I should be able to get through most of them by the end of
the day. I need to go soon and make breakfast for my sick wife. By the
way the wise woman has given me some herbs and spices to help her get
better.
May 3 1560
My
wife is still sick so I'm having the wise woman come over again today
hopefully she can come up with a new idea to get her healthy. I need her
help around the house. She just can’t be sick all the time. But here in
yitc glen this lady “m” has proclaimed lots of crazy things including.
Admitting that she was this guy’s secret lover. And then writing to his
wife and telling her that he is unfaithful and cheating on her last
night with a woman by the river. Third she thinks that king Valentine
have a vile of poison and are piloting to kill the queen. It all sounds
crazy to me she is just looking for trouble. It all is eventually going
to backfire on her she will have an angry mob saying the exact same
things about her. This we all know are not true.
