I don't want to be an asshole but if you think you are a skier and don't know what the 10th mountain division is, or in that case use to be, you need to go back to school and learn some more skiing history. The 10th mountain division use to be the skiing crazy ass outdoor soldiers trained to fight in winter conditions, often on skis.They trained at places like camp hale in the colorado rockies. Pete siebert the guy who developed vail was a former soldier and so were many of the people who helped mold the colorado ski resort/scene as we know it. we owe the 10th mtn division alot. Today they are still active but more as normal soldiers. snapjibber knew it was them because he understands something that is super important to skiing heritage. the 10th guys helped develop many technological advances in the skiing industry. wow i am an asshole

true, it is an american ski heritage thing, wherever you are from, they probably have something similiar. maybe i should not make it seem like a hardcore thing, I just think that lots of kids on this site forget or don't try to understand skiings legacy, all we do is bitch about what outfits we have have everything has become a fucking fashion show. People are so concerned with what a trick is called rather than the style or flow of your skiing. big ups to the scandanavians for skiing, where it was a way of just making life function in the winter...jesus i am a dork
