I found hidden treasure today in CO..

.So here I was in Glenwood Springs with my brother.

He told me the other day he saw this sketchball take a cobble stone out from a wall in a parking lot and pull and box out from behind the rock. I'm like what the fuck it's probably drugs/cash so we drive there and go check out the area that he was in and start pulling on stones to see if they come loose. After a few minutes of searching we found nothing until one of the last ones we try comes loose and we see a metal ammo case behind it. You know like those WW2 big tin boxes for rounds. On the face of it, it says "This end toward street" So by now i'm thinking more like IED (lol).

So we pull this thing out and open it up and it's filled full of random ass shit like calculators and pedometers and stuff like that. Among those was a plastic bag with a pen and notepad inside of it that said on the cover, "PINK FLOYD" and GPS coordinates. we open it up and it says something along the lines of congratulations you've found the geocache and to write your name down and return the box to its rightful place where you found it blah blah blah and that it is an ongoing game for a community of hunters. Along with that note was a website, http://www.geocaching.com/

apparently there are hundreds of these boxes hidden around various states ready for people to find them. Very very cool idea so I thought I'd share, what a fun thing it was to find it too! It's first dated entry was in 2007 so we wrote our names as well and put it back.

After a while we realized the pun and why it was called Pink Floyd, for another brick in the wall which where it was hidden lolololol

tldr;http://www.geocaching.com/ find treasure, have fun.

yea, we got a few hundered on vancouver island.

the bomb squad blew one up in van cause they thought it was a bomb loolo

You just found out about geocaches? People hide them at parks and hiking trails all over stuffing them with cliff bars and fruit roll ups. Its a real douchey thing to take from the box and not put anything back in it.

I've found a few by accident.

I also found something similar once, although I forget the name of it. Basically people make their own stamps, and there is a notepad with some ink and you put your stamp on it with a message about the area that you found it in.

yea man there all over co. theres prob like 15 within 10miles of where im sitting, what u do is u take an item and put your own item in.

They're fun to find and sometimes you'll find a little gem or two in there. Pretty much everywhere you hike there will be a geocache box. Good stuff.

victor lets find the ones on the off road trails that are around ohio/PA. ive found a few around cleveland, def fun thing to do if your super bored

i found on on a small island once.. i was like wtf is this. the pen was nice and took it not knowing.

Geocaching put in simple words: There are a bunch of geocaching sites, like forum, boards whatever, people write down the coordinates of where they hide the box, then people of the community try to trace down the boxes. when you find the box, you put something in it, and take something in exchange. It's been around for a while now (first recorded cache was in 2000) It's a great thing to do on rainy day.. haha!

i wouldnt doubt there there a a handful in the peninsula area, probably a few in Hell town. good idea and its something to do this summer other then get drunk and complain about how bored we always are. (we being the people i hang out with who are uncreative)

there's one in a cave near a mountain bike trail by my house, people just leave random shit in it. im tempted to take a shit in the box but i realize that people really have fun geocaching

I can almost guarantee that if you live anywhere in north america there is probably one somewhere near you. There are some really hard to get to ones too - some require mountaineering knowledge, or scuba diving skills, and other pretty crazy stuff too. Check it out and have fun, its a good way to get out and do something if you're bored.

HA who said you were inviting me? not I! yet i think you should take the youngster up, mentor him and show him the ropes.

Ummmmm, ya I am gonna go ahead and say you are much too young. I am about to be 21 and the other guy is older than me.

lol i mean i really dont care, but your parents and my parents on the other hand, might think differently of the situation.

"oh hey mom, im gonna go drive around looking for geocatches with these two dudes i met on newschoolers... they are 21 and 22" lmao i cant see that going to well with your parents, but what do i know, they might be pretty chill.

but yeah tyler there are a few in penninsula that i havent hit yet. theres like 20 within 1-2 miles from my house and ive only found 4 (only looked for 4) haha.

there are a bunch around me, i've just never had the motivation to go find one

now i'm gonna try and find some

Dude, i put some line and 4bi9 stickers in one. someone took em and left oakley and amplid stickers. this was one that was ON a ski hill, its sick!!!!

watch out there lil buddy!!!!!!!

Geocaching is the shit. I was hiking a mountain and this guy I was with just completely randomly pulled out a GPS and was like "Lets do some geocaching" haha.

I've only found a few but its super fun

Of course we put it back, that shit is so legit and fun too. Damn good hiding spot for one too. I'm planning on hiding one of my own at the very top of a local mountain called Mt. Sopris. It's like a 16 mile hike round trip and one of the longest base to summit mtn climbs in colo.

yeah im not even gonna ask my parents cuz theyre deuches and there way overprotectvie[they didnt let me ski alone till this february]

There's one about a half mile away from me right now. There's also one in the bottom/ middle of a lake in our town. Such a sick idea though.

GeoCaching kicks ass, my friends and I take these MASSIVE excursions intot he woods to find them. Half of the fun is getting lost, last year we came out onto this rocky hilltop and found a big banner "Welcome to ATV Rally 1992!". Another time we wound up in a river, in a pioneer graveyard another time.

i found one by accident. It was on top of a bald mountain in Tennessee on the appalachian trail
