PSA: grey cars with their lights off at dusk blend into roads really well.
i was riding back from class and feeling pretty good about myself when i noticed a large group of people blocking the sidewalk. i looked down the road and saw two cars with their headlights on coming towards me about 600-800 feet apart and nobody going the other way so i was going to drop off the sidewalk in between them and go across the road. plenty of room. so i went ahead with my plan and dropped into the road after the first car had passed and was about 20 feet in front of a grey sedan with its lights off that i never saw coming at me at about 25mph. FUCK. i turned a little but that only got me to right about the center of the hood. like a boss i jumped and tucked rolling up the hood and front flipping off the windshield and roof to my motherfucking feet like a boss. misty 5 style. i still fell over backwards though.
the couple who hit me got out of the car and immediately took all responsibility and tried to take me to the hospital to which i declined about 100 times. funny thing is, i just scraped my shin on the hood and might have bruised my back but their car got wrecked. broken windshield, the hood was all creased up, all that jazz. we called it even because they ran over my longboard which they offered to pay for if i let them take me to the hospital. thing is, i don't want to deal with the hospital because i'm not even hurt. and now, 20 minutes later im here sharing my story because i needed to do something to kill off some of the adrenaline.

Sounds gnar dude. A few months back, I was crossing the road on my bike around dusk, and missed getting hit by a car by a few inches. Look both ways before you cross the road kids!
 
i hit a car while longboarding and did more damage to the car than it did to me. broke the shit out of my longboard though.
 
Last year I saw something very similar happen. This girl on a bike looked one way and then tried to cross the street, but got absolutely smoked by this car coming the other way. She rolled up on the hood and off the side and somehow landed on her feet, completely fine. I was standing probably four feet away. It was awesome.
 
and the off chance that the dude was lying about taking fault and paying for the longboard and just wanted to take me to the hospital to pin me into to paying for the damages to the car. i couldn't tell so i declined. i cant afford shenanigans like that.
 
Dude, you got hit by a fucking car, go to the hospital hahaha. Even if you dont feel anything right now you never know. I mean its a massive hunk of metal hitting you at 25mhp... I can only assume the reason you fell backwards was just because of excessive afterbang?
 
that sounds nuts. ive always wondered what it would be like to be legit hit by a car. some crazy lady in a van ran over my foot and longboard. the damage to my board was about 50 bucks but was having a shitty day and she was driving a really nice car so figured she could give me 150 bucks when she offered to replace it.

got a new board.
 
haha, i know, its just that i could tell right away i hadn't hit my head, the thing that was most amazing to me was my impressive air sense flipping off the hood. i was just like, aight, im gonna stick this. other than that i take harder falls skiing, i'm pretty sure i'm alright.
and i always thought since i was a kid, ok if a sedan is about to hit me id just jump and plant on the hood and jump over it. it was the point right about 10 feet from the hood i realized that wasn't going to work and i went for the tuck and roll.

i figured other people have to notice this; kids who do extreme sports (bad general term) are definitely more coordinated than others who do "normal sports". i mean, most of us play other sports, but how many baseball players do you see skating or park skiing?6

ya right here actually. the reason you dont see it is because they dont want to get injured for their season. A good athlete is a good athlete

i learned all my air sense and how to fall from football, baseball, and wrestling. ive gotten hit a lot harder in football, than i ever have skiing. you learn how to fall quickly
 

I played baseball and ski park and my friends play baseball and snowboard. I dont think its that uncommon
 
so i'm thinking of buying a maestro mini to replace the spliff, any thoughts or recommendations?
im keeping all the hardwear from the spliff to go on whatever i get. so randall 180's and the bustin boca 68mm wheels.

i almost have the exact same setup you had. I have a spliff, paris 150's and the white bustin wheels. I recently just switched my bushings around so i have two soft cones so my board turns really, really sharply now. the maestro mini looks sick. if you live near the store you should go try it. next time i go there i'm going to.

sounds like what happened to me in 8th grade. Guy driving was fucking panicking but I declined everything, just wanted him to buy me a new wheel and to TURN ON YOUR FUCKING LIGHTS WHEN ITS DRIZZLING OUT NEAR DUSK

One of my biggest pet peeves is: TURN ON YOUR FUCKING LIGHTS, DAY OR NIGHT. Especially fuckers in dark/gray cars, at dusk, on a rainy evening... yea, hellllllloooooo, can't see you fucker

too late, i just bought a maestro mini. 90 bucks to support such a dope company, sure why not.
and i know what you're talking about, they straight hook it up if one of their boards isn't exactly perfect, but this was definitely not a manufacturers defect haha.

i saw the two cars with their lights on and had no fucking clue the grey car was in between them untill it was right in front of me with no way out. TURN YOUR FUCKING LIGHTS ON WHEN ITS GETTING DARK OUT!
and to the kid who asked where it was, yeah, by east. the drivers coming through that four way have no concern for pedestrians. i've seen a girl get slammed when she was in the crosswalk by a turning car that just didn't look.

 
this is the most badass story, i give you props man, not only did you get hit by a car, but you where such a badass you pulled a tuck and roll. congrats. now when you hit the mountain you have a lift story to tell. +vibes.
 
yeah, i checked everything out and they're 100% true, i cant believe it. the two front most screws were barely bent but i think that was just from a couple years of hitting sidewalk gaps. pumped on that because i cant afford a full new setup.
 
I could be wrong in this, but you may want to go to the hospital just so it's in writing. If you end up with an injury that doesn't show up right away (happens all the time) then you won't be able to get any compensation from government and insurance.
 
i played baseball forever.....and i can play any sport and hold my own,not a claim just disproving ur point becuase i do park ski
