I find boxes harder than rails?

So, I've noticed that when it comes to doing spins off of rails/or boxes or doing switch ups, it is way easier for me on rails then on boxes, whenever i land on a box i feel like i lock up and can't really move, but i never feel that way on a rail. Anyone else feel this.

yeah man its wayyyyy harder for me to switch up or spin off boxes because you can't get a grip on the edge of the dam thing. plus its just like....more awkward haha
idk but i hear you.

your weird.

naw dude, some people are just more confident with rails, might be something to do with, how do i say it... lateral stability i guess, like its easier to slip out to your side on boxes..does that make sense?

Word, I agree with you I can do so much more on rails than boxes. I would also like to point out that I find boxes to be exponentially gayer than rails as well.

For Me:

Spinning off of a rail = easier than off of a box

Spinning onto a box = easier than onto a rail

I think most people are that way?

boxes=lame

its harder to switch up and spin off because you cant grip the edge the box like you can on a rail and there is more surface under neither your skis so its harder to jump kuz you gotta lift more off the ground.

i dont see why the comparison?

their two different types of features. if you dont like doing one thing on one thing, get creative, try something else. you cant really compare the two because they are completely different.

its like saying i find step ups harder than step downs. or vice versa. they are ment for a completely different style of tricks i would say.

For me, the edge control just needs to be much more subtle on a box, otherwise you catch, or can't make what you want happen.

the best comprimise is something thats too wide to be a rail and too skinny to be a box. but smuggs staff are a bunch of cross eyed retards

yeah, switch ups are harder on a box though, because you aren't locked on really, you are just on the top of it

yeah, i know thats true for me.

im not as concerened about spotting my landing.

i think its easier to do switch ups on boxes too.

when you guys do a blind 270 or more out of a rail do you still scissor your feet ? I never thought of trying it that way but i think i will next week

i once saw someone pretz a box that was like 2 ft wide, and it was so cool becasue it looked so damn trickey

we all had to learn somehow. I know that i learned on boxes then progressed to rails. However, I can't do any tricks off the rails and i'm not consistent with sliding it till the very end.

The trick is to grind the box a little diffrently then you would normally. Almost as if you were doing a nose or tail press with your middle of the foot not in the middle of the box but rather towereds one of the edges, so it is a lot easyer to grip and set a spin.

i like rails so much more, we have a flat-up box at sun peaks last year and i could never do it, i tryed all year and it kicked my ass and now i hate boxes haha

ya, on rails it i feel like i can get a better grip and do stuff off and switch up and stuff but on boxes i always fell like im going to fall back and dont have as much grip to do stuff

i honestly disagree, i feel way more comfortable doing 270s on to flat rails than onto flat boxes. I feel that its way less scarier on a box but it seems to be more comfortable on rails for me.

yea i think thats normal.. its harder to place your skies well on somethign wide to spin off or switch up.. u can do it better on rails...but boxes is easy bcuz u can kinda be sketchy to a certain point and still pull it off bcuz its so wide. rails, if your sketchy or dont spin enough, it wont work....

It's kind of a catch 22, because I do find rails easier, but I also find them much more intimidating.

i had the same problem but if u just get onto a box closer to the edge u want to grip than its easier but it also depends on the width. also just keep hitting them really slow and try gripping all different ways and switching up and stuff so u can get a feel for it. it works dude i had the same problem
