does anyone snowboard, has anyone tried it? dont get me wrong, in no way would i ever give up skiing, im just interested to try snowboarding to see what all the hype is about...

ive tried once back in the day... i fell on my ass a lot but by the end of the day i could pretty much get down the whole hill without falling, its not that hard and just well different...

What the hell were they doing with a car on the moon?... havent they gone far enough?
 
lol, yes I've tried snowboarding, at Seamboat, 5 years ago. I was in a lesson and my brother and I were racing. We were going 2 kms an hour. I went up on a slope and I fell and broke my wrist.

i watched dspin7x attempt to snowboard a few years ago. needless to say that didnt work out. even a great skier couldnt snowboard worth crap... he fell on his ass and face every 15 feet. i guess having ur feet locked in a stationary position is hard to get used to. plus beng sideways apposed to facing straight downt he hill.

i tried snowboarding for a day, and at the end i could already 360 and go down a black run, that stuffs so ez and pointless, you can progress so much ezier than skiing and if u have a park at ur resort ull have an advantage on ride on rails

i do, i switch all the time with my friends, i can actually ride pretty good, the hardest part at our hill is getting up the hill because its a tow rope but i did it my first try

ya, i could carve my first run on the hill on a board. its basically just being educated on how to lean and how to use an edge

i can carve a little bit down the mountain, but when I go toe edge a bust my ass here and there... much respect for snowboarders thats for sure

yo cj, definitely go for it. I did half and half last season, ski and snowboard. Snowboarding is hard the first, easy the second. It has a really fast learning curve. The first time I went I had trouble just turning. The second time I was carving down blue and blacks. I really nice carve on a board is super fun too, perhaps better than skiing. ride it up :)

I tried it a few times, here's how it went:

First time: tiny hill in Quebec City called Mont Myrand. Couldn't make it up the T-bar, couldn't turn, ended spending more time hiking up the 'hill' than actually trying to ride.

Second time: Mt. St Anne. I ate shit about 34543432 times the first day, and put a small fracture in my wrist, but didn't notice until the second day, when I still couldn't turn, ate more shit, and fell into a ditch on my last run. I hiked down the hill and decided that skiing was much more fun.

I think I might try it again.

my friend rented a snowboard so I put it on (with ski boots on) and it didn't work so well. I kept falling forward. I think I'd be better at it now since I started skateboarding a little and the balance is pretty similar. It would be fun to try for a day.

my first run snowboarding like 4 yrs ago... i could arc it up like a pro, but i couldnt stop... so i ate shit. then i figured out how to stop and then i couldnt artc anymore. so that was that... been maybe twice since... could cruise on most of the mountain. why start snowboarding if youre already good at skiing?

i thought about trying that this year i was going o last year but i never got time to rent a board but this year is goin to be the year to extend and advance my skills on the snow baby

its all in the back foot... i dont really like snowboarding it is boring to me (ok well not boring but i just feel like a poser boarding plus i just dont have fun) i am good at snowboarding but skiing the whole mountain requires more skill than boarding a whole mountain i think. think about this... it is a ton more ballzy to jump something switch when skiing than fakie in snowboarding... all u do to switch in boarding is put the other foot in front but switch skiing u limit ur vision of the mountain ahead by facing backwards of the run... skiers have balls

 
its not that great i could go down the whole hill on my friends board with my ski boots on its so easy. but its pretty fun i guess but not close to as great as skiing

Yeah I snowboard sometimes...I usually do it when I take my friends who dont know how to ski then Im more at their level. Its fun It took me a while to get the hang of it but I got it pretty good last year. you just gotta keep trying eaven if you cant move the next day!

its actually pretty fun. i taught myself how to do it one year during night skiing. i worked at the hill so i got halfprice rental. now i am pretty decent at it. its good if you are stuck at your local hill all the time and want to mix it up.

I could do tons of rails and 360's and even a backflip into powder at the end of my week of snowboarding. Couldn't do the steepest shit on the mountain, but got pretty close. It pissed me off cause I learned so much so fast, sometimes when I feel like I suck at skiing I want to quit and just go to snowboarding cause I know I could do well with that, but then I remember which one is more fun for me.

I switch my friends quite a lot. Its really fun, but I just enjoy skiing a little bit more probally just because I am a whole of a lot better on skis.

I snowboarded for about 3 years back in the day. then I switched back to skiing. They are both fun if you ask me.

i have so much more fun when i'm snowboarding than when i'm skiing, but i cant tod jumps on a snowboard, and i'm good at skiing, so i ski. if you suck at sking, i would suggest buying a snowboard immediately.

Snowboarding is easier than skiing hands down.

I used to be a ski instructor and one day they ran short odf sb instructors, si they asked if I could snowboard...of course I said...oh yeah, sure. I had to teach it that day and for pretty much the rest of the season in the afternoons. It sucked, sort of.

 
^ He's right. Six days on a board, spread out over like three years, and I was doing FS boardslides, and BS boardslides. And 360s both ways over small tables, plus getting like three feet out of the pipe. Most of that is because I skate bowls in the summer though.

yea, its hard to get good at skiing but once you got it, its easier to get real awesome, but with snowboardin its easier getting good, but much harder to get better, i hope at least someone stayed with me through that!

I tried snowboarding for a while and i was pretty good at it but it wasnt that much fun. I then went back to skiing and i couldnt believe that i tried snowboarding cause its not nearly as fun as skiing. Stick to skiing

snowboarding is great but skiing is way better. if you can turn on skis chances are it wont take you long to turn on a snowboard

the only times i have snowboarded is when were doing a rail in my friends back yard and i use his snwboard to show them how easy boardslides are. i can barely ride but i can fs and bs

 
I used to board for like 6 years. I just switched back to skiin 2 seasons ago. I love boarding and nothing, nothing beats boarding in powder. Its the closest feeling to surfing youll ever get without actually being on a wave. I still board on the occasion. I saw 13 and tryed skiing and just started doing it again. I bought some canadides and started learning how to ride. Iused to race way back in the day so it took me about a month to get back up to par. I beat the shit outta myself boarding though. I broke my leg. both my arms, a few ribs and cracked a collar bone. all seperate accidents so I was out for alot of those 6 years. Loads of fun though. give it a shot.

i find it easier than long boarding

sometimes when im running water to wash dishes or something, i think about how lucky i am to have such simple access to running water and how some people will never know such a simple pleasure.

then i let it run for awhile, just because i can.

 
as long as you have other board skills it's not too hard, i skateboard a lot and sometimes wakeboard so those helped when i tried snowboarding

I've gone a few times.. it doesnt take much to get good as long as you dont mind eating shit the first half of a day. But as for which is better, its an opinion thing. I, along with most of you, guys think that skiing is better. but the people who love snowboarding think that snowboarding is better.

 
i have never skated or anything, but when i hopped on a snowboard a couple times probably around 5 years ago now, it got so easy so fast. i dunno, its just that i wanted to be different i guess, and thats why i still ski...but i use my snowboarding skills to snoskate alot.

i used to snowboard until like 4 years ago.. skiing just seemed more appealing, and i love it so much more.. but i still think snowboarding is sick, and switch with my buddies every now and then

when i moved out to colorado a few years ago i waned to learn to board, i went up twice, could already 3's and carve..i didnt like it as much as skiing cause its too easy, its limiting too. theres more to do on skis and it takes longer to get good
