Every few years the hip fad changes. For example boy/girl bands, to single pop artists, then we got some candy rap, now it is all about a few dozen stupid ass half rock bands. I watched music videos on MTV for the first time in a long time and it was just a bunch of crap rock. Stupid fuckin music videos too. Too be a fad people need to be into the music right? Well who the hell is buying this shit??? Anyone else feel me?

I'd rather real bands (allbeit shit real bands) who write their own material and perform live get a lot of publicity, rather than some boyband or ho.

I fuckin hate it when people will say that a band sold out just cuz they are able to sell records. Ask any guy in any band out there and they'll tell u that they would like nothing more than to be played on mtv. I understand some bands out there suck and dont deserve to be as famous as they are but dont call em sellouts. Theyre doing what even ur favorite most hardcore band would do given the chance.

Yeah, I hate it when everyone, in all circumstances, gets angry that someone is "Selling out". ANYONE, ANYONEEEE, given the chance, WOULD sell out. If someone hands you a 1 million dollar cheque to put your song in a commercial, why in god's name would you say no? You just got one million dollars, it doesn't matter that yoru song is in a commercial, that's a good thing, and so is the one million dollar cheque in your pocket.

I don't think people mind so much that bands have popularity, money, or fame. That's material and it doesn't matter as long as you are still the same person.

The problem isn't necesarily the money and fame, the problem is what some people are willing to do for it. When you change who you are, go against what you originally believed in, play a role, or try to be something that you are not - that's selling out. That's what I think people have a problem with.

There are bands that get so caught up with 'making it' that they abandon what they believe in and settle for less. That to me is selling out, and that's what I have a problem with.

if you are looking for good music on mtv you deserve to be shot...mtv2 isn't much better except for bloc party, but they are getting fucked over by getting lopped in with a worn out green day and some shitty emo bands.

theres good new shit out there, u just gotta know where to look. Dont wait around for mtv to play it. Which is another point i gotta make. What the hells the deal with mtv taking so long to recognize good music. They just started playing swing life away on there and that songs been out for well more than a year. Same thing with hawthorne heights, my friend had their cd for like 6months before they played ohio is for lovers on mtv.

exactly.. it takes them so damn long to recognize good bands. Rise Against is badass, Hawthorne is too. i've been listening to Hawthorne since they were first signed to Victory, which was a long ass time ago.

IMO, the only good channel to watch is Fuse. They play so many good videos, it's crazy. They play videos from almost every band on Warped (and more of the same that aren't on the tour), to tons of 'undergound' hip-hop (not as much of the gay ass rap like on MTV), and basically everything that you can think of. Plus, you can actually call them up and they will buy a music video from a band that they don't already have if you request it. Fuse knows what's going on, fuck MTV.. they're beyond hope now.

its cause the mainstream has been shit since like 1986 when stupid people started buying whatever they saw on tv and greedy people noticed and started making shittier stuff because they knew people would buy it anyway. if you dig hard enough theres still some good stuff every once in awhile though
