douchebag? because someone doesnt like a sport, they are gay, hs reject, or a social outcast? i think someone has self confidence issues.
and you just fit the stereotypical american. in no way do i mean what im about to say, it is just a stereotype, so dont get me wrong. "how could you not like the sport?" "typical" american thing to say. everything you do is right, otherwise its not right and you are superior to everyone. how can't you like the sport? um because its not played anywhere else to get enough coverage to make it on regular tv?
sure strength, size, speed, agility, hand-eye coordination is important for this sport, and besides rugby which by the way is so much better than football and takes more athletisism and teamwork, no other sport has the same-ish combination. but if football is so tough, why do people get hurt so often? if players are so fast, why do they stop play and the clock every 15 seconds? if they're so good, why do they have 55 players on each team? why do they only play a very slim portion of the game?
you say an elite athlete is a running back or a wide receiver. frankly i think that a typical linebacker is much more of an athlete than either of the other two. they are generally stronger, maybe a little slower, bigger, pretty agile, and have good coordination. not only that, but to say the sport is the best because one specific position is good, doesnt make the whole sport superior to others.
all of this coming from a former football player and a big fan. you need to stop being so narrow minded and fitting into the "stereotypical american" that thinks he is always right and he is better than everyone. ever notice that very few countries play "american sports" and americans generally suck at more popular ones? baseball is growing, however football deffinately isnt.
