I definetly fucked my knee up today

I slid out from a rail and I musta hyper extended my right knee a little bit because every step I take now feels like its gonna bend backwards. I dont think I tore anything though, because it's not that painful

did the exact same thing..ot it's sounds like that..because it is not painful but when you're walking it feels like your knee bends back....and that hurts a little!!!!

 
Same here, bad rail = bad knee. Except I really did something to mine seeing a month or two later, it still is a bitch to walk with.

yeah i did that on a trampoline, itll get better but always bend a little further back than ur other knee and sometimes collpase when u run and jump. u should still go to the doctor tho

I did that once too. hyperextended it and it felt super weird after. then i found out my acl was gone.

just take it easy for a bit because you dont want to fuck it up really bad and have permenant problems. believe me, it sucks.

i'd go to the doctor.... it sucks so bad havin an fucked up knee, i shattered my knee cap last year and only got to ski like 5 times this year because it's still kinda screwed up

yeah ok, and the pain i felt when i tore my mcl in half was imaginary. it feels like somebody is stabbing you dude.

just put heat on it everynight and wrap it if u ski or somthing ull be good

go get it checked out, i didnt think i did anything hyperextending it, and i had skied on it so much and i just got an mri and i told my acl. haha, not sweet.

 
...but when you tore your mcl in half, the pain you felt wasn't your mcl, but probably cartilage, bone, or muscle pain. many people tear ligaments and that is it, and don't know, because it doesn't cause pain.

/\could be right. but i felt a distinct snap followed by a very hot pain, as in the snapping of my mcl. i didnt damage anything else in the wreckage.

dude, dont get all in denial, it doesnt hurt that bad to completely blow your acl. been there, done that, i was in denial, first, if u heard a pop/snap, thats probably not a good sign, second is how bad is the swelling, if you've been icing for like 5 hours and your knee is still the size of a large melon thats a trouble sign also. basically what your acl does, is keep your knees from hyperextending, and if you feel like when u walk your knee wants to give out on you backwards, you are lacking some parts if not all of your acl. get it checked out and keep us posted

maybe acl's dont hurt but ive torn the mcl in both of my knees. one completely in half and the other about 3/4's of the way through, and believe me it hurts. still get it checked out though.

haha thats the exact reason i went to the doctor today... damn those rails and then having to run with it injured everyday for track

 
yeah i've torn both acls and partially torn an mcl...the acls felt really hot but no pain really, the mcl hurt like a bitch...anyhow i was just saying that it is very well possible to tear an acl or whatever and not really feel any pain.

i skied with a broke big toe and a fucked up knee (2 seasons now) and im doing good. try and strengthen your knee by squats and leg press once your able to put pressure on it

in the meantime if you cant do squats do isometrics. just extend and straighten your leg as far as it can go and then tighten your quadriceps as hard as you can for 30 seconds or so. you can do it any time so long as you're sitting and will add noticeable strength in a few weeks if you're consistent.
