this is the first time I've clicked on the forums in a week or two. Seeing as Bush won I couldn't help but check out all the crying.

According to many promises made by liberals on this site a lot of you will be moving to Canada today! Good luck!

I secretly wanted Kerry to win just because I don't feel like listening to liberals bitch and moan for the next four years, and thats the honest truth. I think this really shows how weak of a Canidate Kerry was. With all the anti-bush bash bush bandwagons going on here in America and all the international anamosity (sp?) towards Bush. Kerry still couldn't pull it off, which shows he wasn't the man for the job.

As much as you all are freaking out right now, How bad was the last 4 years of your life? Honestly? I've lived through quite a few presidency's and I couldn't differentiate between any of them.

Also, try not to worry about the Repubs having the majority because there are more moderate/liberal Repubs than there are conservative democrats. I've watched the voting on C-span plenty of times and Dems NEVER (like one or two at most) sway to the right on issues literally and repubs will sway about 10-15% of the time to the left on average I noticed.

What is it your particularly scared about anyway? What has Bush done to scare you in the past? What do you project he will do to ruin your life in the future? Everyone just relax it's not that big of a deal there are plenty of checks and balances to keep one party from going apeshit wild

Freezy please enlighten me on how the Patriot Act has directly affected you or someone you know and their personal freedoms.

Also please inform me of how a Bush presidency would be more likely to institute a draft than a Kerry presidency? If the military is struggling so badly right now common logic would tell that no matter whom was president would have to institue a draft.

Yeah as much as I would have liked to see kerry win as well I was thinking this morning exactly what Ice-is-scary just said. If Kerry couldnt even defeat Bush maybe kerry really is an idiot? Almost half of the nation already hated bush, and if kerry couldnt even sway another 10% to come to his side he must have not been to bright....

wow you are unbeleivably singleminded if your only concern with tha patriot act is how it affects you. True im not a terrorist and have nothing to hide, but the fact that the principles that our country was built on can be bended so easily is disturbing. The patriot act is pretty much an amendmant to the consitution, but it happened without going through all the steps that must happen for an amendamnt. The scary part about that if he can just keep making little adjustments to our civil liberties so easily, you got to wonder where the line is drawn.

Well they can't amend the consitution without 2/3 of the senate voting on it. It's not like bush could amend the consitution single handedly. Anyways do you REALLY think if the government wanted to find out shit about you they would need permission? In matters of national security (which im sure they can pull that card whenever they like) they will find out what they need to know patriot act or not.

We all know bush is a moron, we all know he's not good for the economy, employment, environment, the world, etc. Yet by being a skier you automatically have to revere the environment and be a conscious american. Look at bush's cut backs on the EPA and how he's rolling back restrictions on greenhouse gas emissions... Restrictions that clinton put in place. ALSO, look at the tax cut given to the richest 1% of americans; 87 billion dollars.. Think about all the poor people that are starving, dying, homeless, jobless, and other situations that NOBODY on this fucking webiste has ever endured, yet instead of giving the 87 billion to the poor and to help MILLIONS of people get out of poverty, GEORGE W BUSH gives it to his friends, the CEO's. i know the constitution cant be ammended without a 2/3 vote, but the patriot act is pretty much an altercation on the 4th ammendment without that 2/3 vote.The 4th ammendment says the right 'of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated' no where in there does it go onto say, 'this only applies when we feel like it, or this only applies if we think your obeying the law.' Again it doesnt effect me now but what it comes down to is the principle of the matter and the fact that if these rights can be changed once in such a manner, whats to happen it from just slowly changing even more over the next few years, decades, or however long

SOme of you whine about not feeling safe with Bush in Office. If you knew all of the provisions to the patriot act, you should feel safer. Relax the world will not end in 4 years because of one man.

 
the argument against the patriot act are based on principle, more than on action. just the idea that they COULD be monitoring my internet connection, waiting for me to post this, is what most arguments are based on. and the fact that, if they were monitoring it, they legally would never have to inform me of it.

The war on our personal freedoms (Patriot Act): I have nothing to hide and feel better knowing that someone is looking out for us.

Tax cuts that leave deficits. Tax cuts that help middle class families put more money away for savings, education, spending to put into the economy. Besides, when was the last time our deficit made the slightest difference in anything?

Healthcare. I suppose we could be like canada, waiting in line for 4 hours at a hospital while people are in getting their headache taken care of, or a hang nail removed. Maybe if the democrat leaning citizens were more educated on fiscal matters, they cut fund their own insurance with the lower taxes that a lesser healthcare system provides.

Supreme Court Appointments. ? I don't see any problems, except maybe the fact that they are mostly religious, I am atheist, but those are the beliefs that our country was founded on, so what the hell ... why not?

this election really had no good candidates, but kerry still should be president. it isn't his fault that most of america is full of ignorant morons. i hope all of you can agree with me that we need one president who doesn't label himself as either republican or democrat who will actually do everything he/she says and helps the world. what are the chances of that ever happening. i'll ski on the moon before that happens.

patriot act, in my school and most others demanded schools to give all information to armed forces recruiters unless said other wise by parents

my history professor was on a school trip to mexico recently. there were several foreign exhance students on the trip in that group. no problems leaving the US to get into mexico. on the way back into mthe US, two of the students were grabbed as soon as they stepped off the plane and taken into a back room by the feds. no one knew what was going on, all thier papers were correct, and there was no reason for them to be suspect of anything. the feds saw that they were minorities and immediately saw them as suspects. they were not told what was going on, my professor was not told what was going on either. direct effect of the patriot act. the students were finally released when my teacher broke into the room and started reciting the 4th amendmant word for word.

 
seperation of church and state is in the constitution.. Also we dont need any more strict interpretists, and judicial activists we dont really need any more of them... (justices) If you understand what im saying then good, if not, dont bother responding to this. I think that we need more middle of the road justices that are not bound to any parties like scalia etc. Thats the problem with judicial activism and strict interpretists.

Justo we have been doing shit like that before the patriot act. Anyone remeber what happened to the Japanese during world war 2? When we are at war with a certain group of people of course we pay more attention to them. Do you think it's stupid to?

Truth of the matter is, a white blond person is 99.999999999999999999% unlikely to be a member of the Taliban, nor is an asian person. I'm sorry, but it only makes sense to profile. It some toes are stepped on ... then big whoopdy do. After 9/11 when thy were doing the random baggage search, I got pulled aside because I was younger and had a one-way ticket. Did I freak out and started getting pissed off about my civil rights? No because I was being harmed in any way, even when it happened to be an attractive female doing the search, and my boxers were right on the top. Jesus christ, if you aren't willing to make some tiny little insignificant sacrifices to help the security of our nation, then frankly you do not belong here.

i never said they were arabs, i said minorities. they were both asian. and yes, i am well aware of what we did during world war II. it was wrong to do it then, and its still wrong to do it now. they had no probable cause to detail these two girls.

 
it's the fucking rebellious ragheads over in iraq right now killing soldiers left and right and none of hte taliban or middleeastern terrorists were white so as far as racial profiling goes im all for it. and also, the patriot act is a small infringment on our freedoms and if we don't want another 9/11 (which is undoubtably the reason we are in a recession) we should stop bitchin and live with it.

so why are liberals such hipocrits ... their against actions like the patriot act which is adding more government to peoples lives, yet for things like socialized health care and welfare that also adds more governemtn to their lives ... jesus make up your minds. You only want the governement to get involved when it is providing handouts, which is in a way infringing on your right to survive as a selfsufficient human being. but something that provides protection yet infringes slightly on your internet viewing activities, or quickness that you can get acrossed a border?
