I Come to You with a Story NS

Newschoolers I come to you tonight in celebration. I have completed a task that GOD himself has chosen for me.

I have completed the one year challenge and skied at least once a month for a whole year. This is my story.

It began on the 18th day of October, the year was 2013. It had snowed two days prior and being without previous commitments, I headed to Brighton in Big Cottonwood Canyon. after the hour or so hike, I was at the top of the Snake Creek lift preparing for my decent. After proclaiming that I was the best skier on the mountain for all to hear, I dropped in.

And so the challenge began.

November brought about the regular season which abided me just fine until the resorts began to close in Utah. I was covered through April.

May brought about a new adventure for me, Mt. Hood, Oregon. I had dreamt of going to Hood since I was 14, 7 years later my dreams would come to fruition. It was a great trip and I met a ton of cool people. May was crossed off of my ski list.

My first glimpse of Timberline

New and old friends went to the beach! (errrka, Erica.MN, Jon, Liesl)

June meant another road trip out to Montana for the BearTooth Summer Sessions. Huge thank you to ON3P and the other sponsors that put this on. If you can, I highly recommend going, the vibe can't be beat. Besides who doesn't want to jump off of 30 foot cornices in June?

Even managed a car lap before heading back to Salt Lake (special thanks to Erika for driving)

All of the scenery was gorgeous

Then in a freak June storm, Mt. Baldy at Alta got 2 feet of snow so I made the ascent and even got a little bit of a lift in the back of a pickup from some employees who were stoked I was skiing.

July was more local, and way more low key. Back to Alta, but out of sight of Baldy is gunsight. I met up with NS member Sh4dow and we took a few turns on this white ribbon of death.

August was certainly a challenge. Though I had heard that Mt. Timpanogos in Lehi, Utah still had snow. So I woke up at 4am the day before classes started up again, drove down to Utah county and began my ascent. Which was well worth it.

If I only had a nickel for the amount of times I heard "Is there still snow up there?" While carrying my gear.

September and October have been difficult. Due to a large course load and a job, there wasn't much time to make a trip to Glacier national Park like I had planned. However I made due, and went to Snogression twice.

I suck at front flips.

Well Newschoolers, there you have it. A chronicle of me crossing off a big item on my bucket list.

If you don't do it this year, you'll be one year older when you do.

Bonus picture of my van looking majestic. I couldn't have made it without it.

Congrats man, the first time I did that it was an accomplishment for sure. I'm going for 24 months... But it's kinda cheating when your from hood. Hiking to that glacier run was well worth it I bet.

Bruhhhhh you should make this into an article!!

Such a pleasure to meet you/ call you a friend of my own now! I'll give you another shuttle lap any day, and hopefully not be at the end of a one month trip and have the energy to take one in return :)

Looked like a fun season! But to me Snogression doesn't count. I have a summer setup and go to the ice rink sometimes to get snow, but I don't really consider this as skiing 12 months a year. You have your skis on, but it's just not the same thing.

Even though snogression doesn't really count because they are open all year long, he still did more skiing than most people so give him the credit he deserves!

Good story man.

Quick question, when does BearTooth open? I know the Summer session is in June but when does the mountain open?

Oh I said it looked like a fun season! I'm from the east coast haha, I'd do anything to ski in Utah all winter long and spend a month at Hood.

Btw, great van, Honda Odissey is the best for skiing.

A poem about your van

Vanhalla

She's not just a mini van

No! She's more than that.

Ski-bummin' rad Vanhalla

Beartooth Basin opens when the Beartooth Pass opens - which is usually Memorial Day Weekend.

Closes End of June/Beginning of July. This year it went Memorial Day Weekend through July 4th Weekend.

it's not that snogression is open all year long, it's that they're indoors and have no snow.

Dude yes! This was a great read and definitely should expand into an article! Was great to meet you at Hood and you gotta come out earlier in the spring! EXPAND THE RING!!!

With both Ericka and Bishop's blessing, an article is coming! I am actually doing more traveling today, but within the next day or so I'll do a more expansive article! More scenery, more story, and most importantly, more selfies! Can't believe the support this has gotten!

That's nice.

that wasn't sarcastic btw...it's dope as hell to be able to find snow every month of the year in the same country...not something I would be able to do
