I can think of more than a few girls who need to see this

What if you don't burn? Are you still at high risk? I've had 3 sort of sunburns and I never ever wear sunscreen

hahaha this

but I actually got tears in my eyes, so I think it kind of made up for it.

I lifeguard and I hardly ever burn. I just get a really really dark tan since I have a dark complexion.

But yeah, you're still at risk even if you don't burn. A tan is essentially your body's way of protecting you against UV rays, but it can only do so much - even if a burn isn't apparent.

nope, it was a good comedic relief i think! i watched this a few days ago and showed my friends because i have alwaaays been the one sitting outside at lunch putting suncreen on and they laugh at me haha, i think for dumb people it opens eyes a little bit

People who use tanning beds = dumb asses. My mom is always yelling at me to put sun screen on, and I have a history of skin cancer in my family. I just facepalm at people who tan.

i saw this a few days ago and it was good, but i didn't wanna be a douche and send it to my friends, so i didn't. i'm lucky in that i have dark skin and rarely burn and don't have a history of skin cancer in my family, but some of my friends could do with a wake-up call. i just don't wanna be the one to go "HEY, ASHLAINAH, YOU MIGHT GET MELANOMA, WATCH THIS DEPRESSING VIDEO ABOUT IT."

yeah, sunburns not good for you... didn't people know that? I don't know why people go in tanning booths or just go to the beach to tan, thats boring as fuck. maybe it wasn't so much a big deal when they were kids (some of them at least) but it is now so everyone should know that.

I hate sunbathing as well. I've never really thought about cancer though, just that I dont want to look like a wrinkly monster by the time I'm 40

Ive never had a bad sunburn. Had a little one on my shoulders a couple times. But in the summer im outside without a shirt alot and just tan easy and then thats it.

Actually I take that back. I did get sunburn right below my nose a couple summers ago for being on the beach for way too long with out sun screen. But it wasn't too bad.

Yeah for sure. I tend to just skip sunburn and directly go to sun poisoning....which is bad. But like I said that's only happened once. I still put sun screen on now though because I really don't want any long-term damage.

yeah so you still gotta be careful, just not nearly as careful as someone like me. im also sort of jealous cause i get pretty pale during the winter ha

Me too. My friends always roll their eyes because they'll go lay out for hours in the summer and I have no interest in doing that. Whatever bitches, when I still look good in twenty years, I'll have the last laugh.

ya well....i had the most awkward tan lines that needed to be fixed. ok all of ns really had to know that...haha

fuck ive been on swim team for 14 years, i lifeguard and i never wear sunscreen and ive been burned so many times. im gonna start wearing sunscreen...

I'm surprised at the amount of people who didn't know this stuff, even just in this thread. I honestly thought it was the sort of thing everyone knows but many people choose to ignore.

Why... idk where the rest of my post went.

This is my cousin Robert. Dark hair, dark skin, dark eyes... diagnosed with skin cancer at the age of FIVE.

I got sunburnt today :( Got help for the first sunscreen application, went solo on the second, now the area where I couldn't reach is pink as fuck. Oh well, I'll have to wear a rash vest tomorrow.

Dude fuck lotion sunscreen... get the spray kind that mists.

That or you're too fat. (kidding. skiers aren't fat... well, most of them.)

Yeah might be worth it, and no I am not fat, I am just not especially flexible!

So everyone who is anti tanning in here, what are your opinions on goggle tan? It's almost inescapable for people who ski a lot. Similarly, it's hard to not burn a little if you are out in the sun windsurfing all day, which is how I got burnt.

Honestly, I never burn. My family's skin is darker and we've never had that problem. But my little cousin was proof that it doesn't matter if you burn or not though, you can still get cancer.

On the same note, just because you're getting tan doesn't mean you're getting a shit ton of damage... it all depends on how much you're protecting yourself. Gog tans just happen, I get the darkest ones... but I always wear sunscreen.

I have freckles all up on my shoulders/arms/ and chest. a little on my face. I tan every monday because its only 3 bucks, and every other sunny day i just sit outside on my computer with my shirt off to catch some sun. And last summer i was a lifegaurd.
I only get burnt once a year, unless its spring skiing in colorado or im lifegaurding all day, then ill get burnt on my nose almost every day and my dad had skin cancer on his nose. My dad has no freckles and we both have really dark ass skin from being outside pretty much every day. how worried should i be about getting skin cancer?

If you're trolling, this isn't the place to do it.

If you're not, it's bad enough for me to think you were trolling.

Well then if you're not trolling you're at super high risk.

Such a great awareness video. I'm rep a local melanoma awareness foundation here that's aimed to skiers. Such a great cause and huge on awareness.

Woah, woah... I wasn't trying to be mean, dude. Why the hostility? It just sounded like you were fooling around with all the "I tan, and do this, and that" and I thought it would be pretty clear to someone that they were in pretty serious risk for cancer.

I'd quit the tanning asap and start wearing a shit ton of sunscreen if you don't already.

I was under the impression that any darkening of the skin equaled damage, regardless of skin tone.

I do worry about the amount of time I spend in the sun, when I am not skiing, I am outdoors doing something. I very rarely burn to the point where I am sore though, today was stupid.

I would have so much sex with the 16 year old version of the second girl in the video... and the current version... simultaneously....

When people tan, i laugh. I've tanned before, I don't get the point because it fades soooo quick. And tanning beds suck a lot.
