this shit really does bother me. I love memes, I really do, but I always found that one to be cruel.

I know a lot of people who have disabilities and it's not easy living life in general, let alone with people making fun of you in that manner.

hopefully facebook gets their shit together and gets rid of those pictures.
 
Im all for people having their jokes and stuff about any situation no matter who is offended, because although one person might not find something funny, somebody else might.

my response: 'not to you, but theres plenty of people that think rape jokes are funny' (and bitching ensued at me for a week). Related, my cousin/best female friend killed herself last summer, and i'm not parading around trying to shit on everybody's party because i know someone who died and that's sad, i let them have their fun.

that's just my take on these situations. i might not approve of some stuff but i just look at other stuff, simple enough! plus, potatoes. take the world lighter.

This article is incredibly stupid, you can tell that the mom tries to control her daughters life. They both have the exact same haircut and the potato kid is dressed up like a totally standard highschool girl. All of the down's syndrome kids I know wear what they want because their parents treat them like normal kids and let them make decisions for themselves. She obviously wants her daughter to be treated like a completely normal person, and that is the reason she is upset. Dumb broad is obviously having trouble accepting the fact that her daughter has down syndrome and unfortunately will never be a normal person. Also I think memes are generally funny, but really if you were a meme you would probably feel terrible about yourself (except good guy greg.) It would really suck to be the scubag kid or bad luck brian. And for some reason the count to potato meme doesn't seem very mean to me. Throughout high school and middle school one of my good friends was a kid with down syndrome named tyler. No one ever made fun of him, and the reason we all loved the kid was because he loved life and was not caught up in bullshit like feeling sorry for himself, his parents were awesome too and never let tyler's disease bring them down. He was a hilarious kid and often said ridiculous things in some sense similar to "I can count to potato" honestly when I see this meme, not very often I don't laugh, but it doesn't make me angry either, it just reminds me how bad situations sometimes produce hilarious and genuine people.

My sister has down syndrome and this shit is pissing me off. I totally understand how they are upset, but the internet is the internet, once something is on there, it's IMPOSSIBLE to delete it COMPLETLY, so suing facebook is dumb.

I don't know why people laugh about DS but not autism, and all these other mental illness. Anyway, internet has everything I guess.

So I get that the parents posted her pic originally to a specific website dedicated to support. Ok, thats fine.

But regardless of where you post anything on the internet, you should be well aware of any consequences of the content you post. Yeah, the guys who went and originally took this are serious assholes. Big time. But for the mother come around and try to eliminate this picture form the internet…. I get she's trying to right something, and she's more than willing to go to bat for her daughter, but it just cannot happen. Unfortunately.

I read the article, and every kid I know with down's is very independent, and they also graduated high school, I garuntee that heidi doesn't make the decision to dye her hair burgundy or wear clothes of that nature, I'm not saying that just because she has DS she shouldn't dress nicely or look good, I just think that her mom is only worsening her disease by trying to pretend like it isn't a huge contributing factor to the way her daughter lives her life.
