hey

i finished my camera crane last night and i took it out to test it, unfortunately it was dark, so the footage isn't as gerat as it could be, but we just did it to see if it works anyways...

nope, i was thinking about building a dolly too, but the arm is too long (6 meters, 19.7 feet) i thing it would be shaky

i figure it's too hard trying to move the dolly and trying to keep the arm steady at the same time
 
that looks sick, very nice. how much did that cost u & how long did it take.

Ive been dying to make/buy a jib, but didnt have the time to make one or the money to buy one, so one day i mounted a fully extended colapsed tripod on another tripod and hung some weights from one end. it was good enough to give me some nice smooth pans, but i still want a real one.

and to the length... it's of three 2 meter pieces. so it can be 4 or 6 meters. i haven't tried it with 4 meters yet
 
well, i work at a metal shop so i just took the material from there. that makes it kind of hard for me to tell what it would have cost if i had to pay for everything.

i paid for things like the wires tho, and that alone was like 70 bucks.

time wise, fuck it took me over a year. don't even bother if you don't know how to work with metal.

the way i made it it stays level all the time, plus i can pan and tilt with the control on the back. don't know what those are called in english, but i used those black tubes with the wire inside for that. (exactly what is used for the brake of a bike)

i suggest to everyone who wants to build one to keep it as simple as possible. in this video i didn't use the pan and tilt at all. you can save yourself 70% of the time if you don't have to build a control. it's enough if it stays level and thats it
 
wow, props for the hard work

by staying level, do you mean that the camera would be stationary or would rotate so it is always facing parallel to the ground
 
if you don't touch the controls it will stay parallel to the ground, but if you want you can move it up/down and left/right.

to the post before: in the video i didn't use the controls at all, i changed the angle of the camera sometimes between the shots, but this was just a test so we just kinda boomed it around and that's it
