I bet $100

I bet my friend $100 that people that live in the mountains will die earlier then someone that lives in a big city. People that live in the mountains breath all the smog that rises from the city and settles in the mountains. Their lungs are way blacker than big city people's. I am like 99.9% sure that I am right. What do you guys think?

I think you're wrong because when I'm in the mountains, I feel that I breathe fresh air. When I am in LA, I feel I am strangling myself to death.

That is a great research subject!

Its just that NOxs and CO2 are heaver that air so it tends to drop into lower atmosphere.

But O3 can be created from NO2 and H2O that rises. The affets of O3 can cause cancer and stuff.

actually your completely wrong because generally the smog and polution will settle in low lying areas with little airflow. Look at LA and mexico city when the surrounding mountains trap the pollution in the valley's making for some of the worst airquality around

smog doesn't rise- it settles low in the air. look at Denver or LA. have you ever flown into Denver? as you get closer to the ground, you can see the haze. it's disgusting.

Don't worry though about loosing the money because I bet my brother 50 bucks he couldn't eat a spoonful of cinnomin... I forgot to mention he had to do it all in one swallow.

I bet 50$ that the (ugh) leafs will take down the Sens tonight... it sickened me to do it but I was getting 4 to 1.

You sir are absolutely incorrect.

i sincerly hope you have $100 to spare

and that you will pay up. there is nothing worse than people who make bets with out the intension of accepting the answer, whatever it may be.

but dont worry dude there a loads of people even dumber than you

wow that is by far the dumbest thing i have ever heard... look at cave men, they are still frozen and well in the ice. they been here millions of years, you die off in about 80 years old

i've never heard ANYONE else besides one of my friends use the word Hundo, and that kid is the man, so good work

and yea, say bye bye to your 100 bucks dumbass

It depends on what country we're talking about. In many areas of south america, Rural areas have no access to sanitation or clean water or, in some cases, advanced medical institutions. However, in the USA, population health in cities is worse than at the national level. In NYC, the evidence is incontrovertible: life expectancy at birth is lower than in the U.S. as a whole, particularly for males (67.8 years); infant mortality (IM) is higher; and rates of "feeling worse", self-reported total mobility limitations among persons 65 years and older (18.1%) are higher than for New York State overall (16%). In Tokyo, however, there are no significant differences, along these measures, in comparison to Japan. In Paris, although there are no differences in LEB when compared to France as a whole, infant mortality is lower in Paris than in France (4.0 vs. 4.6). And in London, although there are no significant differences in IM, or in LEB for men, women have a longer LEB (79.3) than in the UK as a whole (78.8).

I totally ripped most of that data off of some website.

well if were talking about water and stuff like that..thats probably true, but hes just talking about air and stuff...

if your all disagreeiong w/ the kid then take the bet and hell owe a sht load of kids $100

no he thinks that breathing fresh clean mountain air gives you second hand smoke

also, there's no wqay either of you will pay up, so many ways to bitch out

for example...I was talking about RIGHT above a big city

I was talking about living in the distant mountains of alaska

blah blah blah

although what you said sounds kind of logical, but the amount of smog in a city is much more than the amount that leaves the city.

i dont know, it would be hard to debate, i was in NYC the past weekend and all the shit thats in the air would get to you, but i do agree that in SOME mountains you might run into problems with smog, but by nautral purification (with condensing and percipitation) i would think that the smog would affect run off areas before it would affect the mountain areas

overall, I would have to disagree with the initial claim, although, it does have some merit. You have to look at places like PA to agree with his theory, in parts of PA, polution is extremely high because of the Apalacians filtering the polutants out of the air. However, I think the bet would have to consider where the mountains are located and where the city is located.

YAY not only did u get someone fired over 5 cents, you just lost 100 bucks. smog is heavier than air which im sure a lot of these nice people up ^ said (but im too lazy to read). for this reason it settles in low lying areas ie LA Mexico City, and other cities in vallies/costal regions with mountains

wow i didn't even know that numbers and letters could form things like co2 o3 no2 h2o o3 you must be a genius and i'm not even kidding

yeah oversly u guys arnt gunna pay up to each other for who ever lost as steez said to many ways to bitch out....but if not ur stupid and lost 100$

fuck, I just paid my friend like 15 min ago $75 and will pay him $25 later. But now I bet him $100 if he smoked one fat piece of dog shit.

Uhh, when you are way in the mountains I don't think the smog settles in them...we have many trees which provide way more fresh air than in the city.

smog doesn't rise, look at mexico city. thats a perfect example of the smog being contained by the mountains around it so it pretty much hangs over the city.

Nah, we had the "win in regulation/OT" caveat. Shootout didn't count. So it's a push.
