To help me make one of the most important decisions of my life

Just today i found out that i got into Northeastern University in Boston, its a good school i just dont know much about it, but my girlfriend goes to school in Boston and i would like to be close to her.

But before today i had already been accepted to the University of Puget Sound in Tacoma, its a good liberal arts school and has the major that i want, International Politics and Economics. I already sent in my deposit there because i didnt think i was going to get in to NU, but it was only about 300$ so it wouldnt be a ton to loose.

so the question is which school do i go to??

for the record im interested in studying politics/history/economics.

Go to the school that is best for YOU! Me and my GF went to different school when i wnet off to college, its was hard, but it has made our relationship 1237982374x's strogner than it was is highschool. If you can do a long distance relationshiop, you can make it through anything.

My girlfriend already goes to school there, she has for the last year, and ive just been going to my hometown college. Its been way hard but it has made us much closer, but we really just want to be together now.

and i dont want my gf living there to be the reason i go to NU and i need to know more about the school.

kinda sounds liek to wanted to go to boston butdidnt think twice bout going there cause you didnt think youd get in. since you have already beenm apart, visit the school, if you like it even remotly as much as the other one, go there. My GF is gonna be bout 20 mins away from me this comming year, and im stoked. Sexin all the time.

i want to visit campus, but i live in colorado which is a good distance away. And its all really short notice seeing how the semester starts in like a month.

Boston is a DOPE place and you'd love it there, but I'd say go to the school that fits you best.

damn i figured you live in the boston area, MA at least. have you visited the other campus? are they camparable in size and students? which school has a better program that you want?

Nah i live really far away from both schools, and it sucks living 2000 miles away from your gf for a year. I've been to boston before a couple times and i love it up there, but ive never specificly been to NU. I visited UPS for an interview and i loved the campus and the nieghborhood and the northwest but i didnt really love tacoma.

NU is a good amount bigger then UPS like four times bigger cause UPS is a really small liberal arts school. And as for academics, if i went to UPS i would study International Politics and Economics for sure, but at NU there are a lot more options.

I dont know which one really is the better school, but i do know if i dont go to NU it will probably be over between my girlfriend and I.

You love Boston, but didn't like Tacoma

Tacoma has what you want, but Boston has that and more

I'm saying go with Northeastern. Though I have no experience in this situation

I didnt like tacoma as a whole, but i loved the campus and the nieghborhood

and i like the area a lot, definatly better skiing.

puget closer to better mtns. your going to college, are you sure you just wanna go with your gf out there_.. ps NICe mjaor, mine too!! economics sucks though! im actually doing international sociology.. anyhooww

You got into NU and you spelled lose "loose"...

But seriously, I love Boston. One of the most energetic cities and sooo much to do for the young crowd.

haha to be honest i dont know how i got in, i had a 2.2 in high school and got expelled at the end of my junior year. I did okay in college a 3.25, but i must have written some really good essays....

i dont know much about either school. but i'd say tacoma, only because its a lot decently close to amazing skiing. although tacoma smells like asshole, and has a decent crime rate, i'd still say tacoma just the for skiing.

now the question is, would you rather be able to get pussy whenever you'd like, or would you rather be able to ski waist deep pow?

this is tough man.... the one school has your major and you like the campus.... however the majority of college students change there majors after a semester...i did

and the other college has a lot more options and your gf... it depends on how much your two like eachother for serious... if its just a relationship go to the first college but if its serious serious go closer to her because going to the first school and being that far away is gunna drive you crazy

yes it can. some years its gonna suck, but you're in boston, so you aren't in a bad area of living, and i mean, loons good.

do what's best for you. do you really think you will marry this girl? will you meet others in college? think about it before committing like that. I visited northeastern once, it was nice, I liked it a lot and I know one of the professors there.

good advice if you truly love her, then go and bewith here, since boston is a bigger school, they will haveyour intl. politics major too.

I go to UPS, so I would say here, but you can't really go that wrong with either.

one thing I would mention, don't make the decision based upon a girl. I know you guy may be really good, but college is more or less ridiculous. If it is meant to be, it is meant to be. Don't limit yourself.

UPS has a great IPE program, so if that is what your interested in, I think you would like it here.

Skiing here blows the east coast out of the water....

And while Tacoma can be interesting, it isn't like you are living in the hood. The area around UPS is fine as long as you pay attention and aren't an idiot. Same thing as living in any big city....

Also, worst come to worst, you can always transfer from one to another. You may find out you love the PNW, or hate it, and the same with Boston.

What is your gut telling you?

also, another thing to think about in regards to tacoma... you'd be 3ish hours south of the world record holder for the most snowfall in a single season, and an average of 700 inches a year: Mt Baker.

yeah, that's what it comes down to...would you rather ski the most epic powder ever, or live near your girlfriend?

in this case i would say boston, but dont make your decision based just on your girlfriend. those things end.....

You really want to go into Politics??? wow. Honestly, I bet once you get into a political program, you wont like it. I may be wrong, but I guess if you really want to find out, go for it. And in my opinion, it is nice to be a bit closer to home when you go to college. Yea you might not get as great as powder on the east, but you can ski powder well into your 60's, you cant ride park when you get older though. I would say go to college in boston your first year, and if you dont like it, transfer out. There is a shit ton of stuff to do other than skiing in college. Plus its hard to ski alot and study at the same time.

Tacoma: most stolen cars per capita in the US, gotta love it.

and Tacoma just got a new bridge

which conects it to

Kitsap County: the highest area of meth production per capita in the world.

and in Kitsap County is

Bremerton: Highest meth consumption per capita

But the mountains are nice.

OH yea, where do you live? Would you be paying in state tuition in either of these schools?

And as far as the girlfriend, depends. If shes really hot, a skier, sexy body, smokes ganja, and is fun to be around, she might be worth keeping lol.

wow so either youre in the same town as her or youre on the other coast. thats lame. id say go to tacoma its so much closer to whistler than boston is.

Tacoma is high, but pretty sure it is just in the top 10. Currently the top 10 go:

  1. Las Vegas/Paradise, NV

  2. Stockton, CA

  3. Visalia/Porterville, CA

  4. Phoenix/Mesa/Scottsdale, AZ

  5. Modesto, CA

  6. Seattle/Tacoma/Bellevue, WA

  7. Sacramento/Arden-Arcade/Roseville, CA

  8. Fresno, CA

  9. Yakima, WA

  10. Tucson, AZ

Kitsap county does suck though. I don't know why you would ever go to Bremerton unless you were driving thru to get the the olympics.

But after three years in Tacoma I have yet to even seen meth. I have been offered, but its presence in N. Tacoma is nothing compared to most other typical college drugs.

and to add....it seems like this is about as well as it can be broken down. If you really think you and this girl will last, go for it. You can always transfer.

Thank you for all of the input back in this thread, it has really got me thinking, sorry i havn't really been responding but i was out climbing the highest mountain in colorado (Elbbbeerrrttt!!!). But right now i live in western colorado and go to school at Mesa State, where i am a politics major and am minoring in economics. I am really really interested in both of those fields and i want a school that has a good program for them. I love it here in Colorado, but im ready to experience something different so thats why i choose schools so far away.

My girlfriend moved to Boston last year and we have had a long distance relationship, which worked but we would really rather be together. I love her a lot and we've been together for a little over a year and a half, but as for marrying her or anything like that i dont know because im still pretty young to make that kind of decision.

I loved boston when i visited there, but i know nothing about NU and i dont think im going to have time to go there before i make my decision. As for tacoma i am from colorado so im used to deep snow and great powder which is a big plus, but i think moving there instead of boston would really end my relationship with my girlfriend.

gahhh its such a tough decision!!!!

god when i look at those pictures my gut tells me NORTHWEST NORTHWEST, god how i love powpow. Also i think my parents are really leaning towards Tacoma, but ive never really done much of what they told me, so thats only important because they're paying for it.

yes, it can be. but that doesnt mean it always is...hopefully you can learn to like park a lot if you dont too much now lol

Sounds to me like you want to go to Boston. And theoretically, you

could probably get in 30 days of great pow skiing in CO during your Christmas

and spring breaks if you went to school in PA. The snow is nice here

in WA, but I've kinda always liked skiing on the east coast just

because it's so different. It might not be that bad for a few years. I won't say "don't base your decision on skiing or your girlfriend," because they might be extremely important to you, and you obviously know that long distance relationships aren't a lot of fun, but please make sure you find out as much information as possible on the two schools before you make the decision.

Yeah im not really going to be home at all

im in japan for winter break and hopefully alaska for spring

EVERYTHING ASIDE, LIKE THE GIRL, UR CLOSE PROXIMITY TO GREAT WASHINGTON MOUNTIONS, ID HAVE TO SAY GO TO PUGET SOUND.

sorry, that wasnt s'posed 2 be all caps

never let a girl change your path pal. that's what i've learned through the years. most people who do chase a girl end up losing her anyway......follow your own path. you both gotta grow. she isn't stopping her path for you.
