This is in response to the FUCK GLOBAL WARMING threads that have been going down lately. Before you read my statement, I acknowledge that global warming exists and that humans are making it worse. By saying this I will follow with my statement:

GLOBAL WARMING IS NOT CAUSING LACK OF SNOW!!!!!!!

Yeah.. global warming will do a lot of different things, like if you look at the west, that enourmous amount of precipitation is def caused by global warming, its not just causeing the lack of snow, its just fucking up the entire weather system. But come to vermont and you will see that global warming is shitting all over us.
 
Actually I'm not that smart, GPA 2.975 and 22 on the ACT. I'm just putting out facts. People think they can blame global warming because they think it changed there snow amount at a certain time of year over ONE year. Maybe after 5-10 years less snow at a different time would be a legit consequence of global warming. I mainly just made this thread to get stupid 14 year old kids who have no idea what they are talking about to shut the fuck up.
 
i live in the east coast and its 50 degrees but its not because of GW it isnt even winter yet it starts the 22 also just becasue we are having a "bad season" doesnt mean you can blame it on GW
 
Exactly.

Plus last time we had a dry spell at the beginning of the season here, it snowed 100 inches in 3 days before Christmas. Damn good present I'd say.

Hey scrub your not qualified enough to make that kind of statement. The only kind of person that is qualified to make that statement is a scientist which you obviously aren't. So don't go around blowing off GLOBAL WARMING like its not happening.
 
I am sorry to announce you that in the 40 last years, in a lot of ski resorts in Europe have seen their snow amount lower from an half. (my statistics are from France, I don't remember which mountain exactly, but a big resort). Well I'm not saying that Global warming is alarming, but I have to say that your argument about one-year-based-blaming is not reliable.
 
global warming is real, but its not nessicarily taking away all the snow...

SUNSPOTS... its been right over our head htis whole time, global warming is just an excuse for our government to tell us to be environmental and such, when really its all sunspots, and they are in about 11 year cycles, so the past 5 seasons is only half of it!

but seriously, global warming has changed some things, but sunspots could also be to blame... or just a bad season, or a couple bad seasons. it happens
 
global climate change is for sure happening, watch an inconvenient truth. Its happening slowly but surely and if shit doesnt go down to help stop it were all kinda boned.
 
i blamed my terrible math test on global warming, but i wasn't allowed to re take it. apparently climate changes shouldn't have any affect on my mathematical skills.
 
Well that's the problem...^^ Mid december and absolutly no snow on the ground in southern quebec, I don't really find it normal. Nad last year, we had a pretty good november and december season, but in january it has rained for I don't know how long, but a really not positive number

If your really sick of the bitching, and if, like you say, this is in response to the other Global warming threads. Then why didn't you just post this comment in one of those threads?

Instead you created another one, which not only makes the discussion harder to follow as it jumps around from thread to thread, but also will no doubt invite more of the "bitching" which you claim to be sick of.

Basically you are just encouraging a whole bunch of people to be forced repeat themselves instead of moving forward through a discussion. All this is doing is starting an already existing debate from scratch.

I move that this thread be somehow tacked on to the end of one of the already existing threads on Global Warming, or abandoned in favor of one of them.

all i have to say is that people shouldn't blame global warming on the east coast shit. its not because of it. does everyone remember the record setting year last year?? i do. the reason the east is so screwed right now is becuase of el nino. nothing we can do about that. next year will be just as killer as last

somethin about the winds changin. somethin like the jetstream changin. other than that i just know its gonna be shitty for snow and cold weather
 
ive seen snow in mid july, in helena montana where it usually 90+ and pretty often in hte 100's in july. climate can be crazy some times.
 
El Nino is a large area of warm water in the middle of the Pacific ocean by the equator. The larger the warm area is, the mor powerful it is. It causes odd wind patterns to develop and pushes warm/wet air in unusual places.

It's effects in North America are seen most in the Northeast where it is warmer than usual.
 
Umn in the east like 4 of the 5 worst winters occured inbetween 1996 and 2002... and I never new global warming would come in so fast!!! 4 years.. yeah right
 
speaking as a soon-to-be scientist, whos been doing a lot of talking with other internationally recognized scientists for the last three years, I'd just like to say:

-its happenin'

-it'g going to cause increased percipitation and increased variability in that percipitation. So some places are going to get more, some less.

-it's too soon to know whats what just yet, but its all on such a large scale sorting out what is being caused by what is pretty well impossible.

-yup, you do get natural variations in climate globally, but they dont really happen this fast, except for that one time a meteorite hit the earth, and some dude snuck a big ice core out ofgreenland and figured out that a one degree change in global temperaturewas correlated with local variations of much, much more, and an ice age. Because theres wicked feed-back cycles you see.

-blaming everything on global warming is dumb; unilaterally denying that global warming could be playing a role is also dumb. The only way we'll really know is in retrospect, and since by then itll be too late, everyone should shut the hell up and start riding bikes.

oh..and if your going to whine about global warming fucking up your season, seriously consider the contribution you make to it by your lifestyle, let alone the environtmental cost of taking a jet across a continent for a week of skiing, you materialistic bitch.
 
oh, just adding something in the innconvinient truth gore ( and know i do not think im a expert just for seeing the movie) said the roads to the artic used to be only useable like 60 ( or something) days of the year 50 years ago, now they are useable 250 days of the year, and just in case you didnt figure it out they were not useable before do to snow.
 
the whole thing about pollutants insulating the earth has some validity to it. its been 55-60 here which is 15-20 over the average temp and thats a little concerning. but im not sure what it does to snowfall, it seems like some places are having terrible seasons and some are having record-breaking seasons.

but in a 100 years if mankind is wipedout then we'll know that it wasn't exaggerated.

i don't know about you guys but i'm going to stick around till then to see what happens.

I watched Al Gore's movie on global worming the other day. Actually was pretty darn interesting. He makes some great points and how the American gouvernement is really not doing anything at all for global warming. I dunno, but it was pretty interesting. Lots of information on it if anyone wants more.
 
AHHH FUCK THIS MOVIE, its good that its getting the word out but do you understand how frustrating it is for all the educated people in the world who have been trying to communicate this information to the rest of you fat-assed cows for the last two decades, failing again and again to watch some dumb-ass politician try and make his name on it and ride it out of the morass of public contempt he got himself into? GODDAMN so many people are so so stupid.

What happens happens thats fate. If its such a big problem why don't you do something about it instead of talking about it. Al Gore's documentary did nothing more then making people say wow.. we fucked up an we are all going to die. How many of you people saw the movie and decided to ride your bicycle to class or go buy a hybrid car? Yeah not too many. I saw the movie, thought to myself.. wow I wonder what the worlds going to be like in 50 years.. got into my big gas gussling V8 f-150 and drove home. Maybe you should write a big petition saying you don't want to die and i'm sure that will make industries plug up their smokestacks. We are an industrialized society. If we keep doing what we are doing your going to have everyone complaining. If we change it we are still going to have everyone complaining. The only way around it is to go back to a 18th century way of life but with computers and thats something that is never going to happen. I know we are all sick of our republican president and I'm sure that the next election will come out in favor of democrat and they are going to make emission laws stricter. Its not going to work in the big scheme of things. Millions of people contribute to it, me, you, your parents, our dogs. So if you feel so strongly that we can fix the problem fix it. You can do anything want if you really want to. The problem is you can't get billions of people to want to fix the problem. Our industrialization peaked already... but in Asia it has not. If you can't get everyone in this thread to agree how are you going to get the whole world to.
 
if you admit it exists how can you say that it isn't why we dont have snow? if it was colder it would've snowed yesterday not rained.

Yeah exactly. We don't know enough about Earth's climate to say anything FOR SURE. Earth is in a partial warming cycle now, although human activities are probably making it worse. Either way, i think we should work to reduce CO2 emissions.
