Hurting knee what to do

I knee is killing me, what can i do to ease the pain? any stretches, icing, heating what to do?

I'd stretch it before and after skiing and maybe get a soft brace for it while skiing. If it's bad right after skiing maybe an ice/ heat pack to make it hurt less?

do hamstring streches. And a lot of knee pain can be cured by strengthening your inner and outer thigh muscles (adductor and abductor). I tore cartilage in both my kneecaps and it really helped stabilize and take pressure off of them

its hurts in the front of the knee, and the pain is bad when i put weight on it, i can walk, and bend it fine, but skiing i need to stop like every 5 turns to let it rest for a moment

if its like a stinging pain its could be a cartilage tear, if its duller more of a burning pain it might just be a muscle sprain/overuse

If it's simple soreness in general, then RICE it. If that fails, go to a doctor.

If it occurred at a distinct moment, get to a doctor.

Eitherway, consulting NS on medical matters isn't the best of ideas.

golly gee let me think for a minute.

You cant make more than 5 turns with out excruciating pain.

maybe go to an orthopedic doc and get it checked out?

or get random advice and potentially really have issues with your knee..this seems like a very difficult decision to me.

yeah my knee is fucked and when ever it starts to hurt i just ice it and sit on the computer.you got to move it around a bit though or else it will stiffin.

^it worked for me and my knee was 100% in one week. just ice ice ice for a couple days and 1 long hot shower at the end of the day. after that, get like a brace, not anything expensive, you could use the goss type stuff and that works to, and just flex it back and forth and then side to side and then an elipticol machine works magic and then start walking the stairs and then run up em. just go slow and dont do anything without feeling comfortable about it. if it just started after a day of skiing, its def not serious and dont waste money at the doctors.

I have the same pain and I haven't even got to ski yet, but it started after I got back into going to the gym. I've had it before (the sharp pain in the front of the knee when you apply weight, like the action of climbing stairs) and was told it's actually not the knee, but rather weak muscles in your quad that attatch to the knee. Therefore, one way to fix it is to try and straighten those muscles with excercises etc. Anyway, I'm hoping that's all it is because it hurts like a bitch. If in doubt though, go to the physio.

How old and how tall are you? If you are going through puberty and growing pretty tall you might have Osgood Shlatter disease, where your tendons aren't keeping up with your bones growing, making doing activities like skiing very painful.
