Hurt my ankle pretty good today. Hopefully I’ll be ready to ski come winter.

Today I landed on my foot really awkwardly while playing basketball. Immediately heard a pop sound and could barely walk. Fortunately, it’s not broken, but it’s sounding like a pretty severe sprain. Got a mri and what not in two days, wish me luck!

Wrap that thing up and elevate it plus some ice to reduce swelling at least.

I got a boot on rn. I’ve been icing the thing like hell, still seems to be pretty swollen?

Loosen your boot up and ice + elevation honestly. Boots are okay but they can create pressure points and soreness that doesn't help either. Its going to be swollen for at least 4-6 weeks if you don't take care of it. It's not displaced or anything so thats a good sign, probably a high ankle sprain. Wrap, ice, and rest-it. You'll be okay.

Make sure you do whatever PT your doc gives you. I sprained my ankle a few years ago and thought PT seemed pointless, but now I’m still dealing with limited range of motion in that ankle

I sprained my shit skating like this a few years ago. Didn’t take care of it well and it’s never been the same.

on a brighter note I have developed a system whenever I get an injury now. I go to the hot pools near my house, go in the hottest tub and start stretching it/mobility stuff, then cold tub for swelling, repeat 3x

worked really well for a few injuries.

I had a pretty bad fractured femur while fruit booting in august, im still on crutches for the most part now slowing putting weight on it, i hope to be a hundred percent by ski season but idk

Make sure you stay disciplined in your PT exercises and dont try to do too much too soon. Better to miss the first week or two of the season than to screw your ankle up for years to come

That’s some serious swelling. Is it getting more black and blue? Did they check you for any soft tissue or ligament damage?

It’s not really discolored at all. Urgent care didn’t really do much but take x rays. I was told it could be a grade 2 or 3 sprain with ligament damage

Left side mainly

is it mainly the whole left side or is there a specific area that looks really bad. meaning if have one spot that looks really bad it can be a sign or more damage

May I ask how the heck did you break your femur fruit booting? Seems a lot rarer than breaking it skiing since you generally aren't travelling nearly as fast as skiing. Regardless I hope you can recover enough to ski this season

Update: swelling has gone down significantly and the discoloration is going away pretty quickly. Doc says I’m in a boot for 2 more weeks. Sounds like I’ll be all healed for the season?

I was rolling backwards to do a fakie 180 over the coping on down the ramp, I was looking at my friends talking, realized i didnt have enough speed and my skate hit the coping and I just fell from 4 feet directly onto my right knee which was bent at 90 degrees. The bottom part was my femur was fractured. where the femur kinda meets your calf bone or whatever, the bone was cracked like from knee cap up 4 inches. it hurt very bad but i thankfully i didnt need surgery.
