Although the book uses derogatory terms to refer to slaves, they're not there just to be racist. I think they were included to show the culture that Huck lives in and to exhibit how African-Americans were treated in those times. The Catcher in the Rye was also banned in lots of schools because of the inappropriate things things that were included in it, but it was in there to make the story compelling, not just for the sake of putting it in.

I love this book and Mark Twain.
I lawled for about an hour at the chapter that said chaw every other word.

he wrote it as it was during that time. he wasnt going to censor his book if that was the language being used during that time. huck develops a relationship with a negro which is unheard of during the time. and his acceptance of Jim is displayed when he rips up the letter he was going to send to Miss Watson. "Choose once and for all betwix two things"

boom, ownage

Yeah I figured that would be the case "during that time" hahahahahahahahahaha you loser you say that way too much. Learn to not be so repetitive.

what about the time he played the joke on jim, where he tricked him into thinking that he was in the raft that whole time? he then said he could have kissed jims feet, and that it was the first time he was ever apologetic towards a black man, and he never felt sorry for it.

although the kid is an idiot, he has a point
you could have used so many phrases then during that time, which you used 3 or 4 times
