Html coding with a mac

What program can I download and use to write html code with a mac? I tried opening my page in textedit and none of the code would show up, just the webpage. I started a new file, wrote some code, saved it, and reopened it. Same problem. all of my code was gone. what program should I use?

I know Xcode does a lot of coding stuff, I use it for C++ but it has wayyy more possibilities. Heres a link for the apple developers website for the information they request just use your user name and password.
http://developer.apple.com/tools/xcode/ Try that out. Just from looking I don't see anything in the new project that relates to html coding but i don't know anything about it aside from the c++ shit so check it out.

the other free one i've used is text wrangler. its a text editor, but it colour codes the markup the same as other html editors, its not too bad. download at: http://www.barebones.com/products/textwrangler/

I REALLY love BB Edit.

it shows all the different tags in different text colors, and makes it really easy to see stuff.
