What's your GPA/standadized, if you don't care?

Yea no worries.

GPA has ranged from 97.5 to 99.5 throughout high school (quarterly). Overall somewhere between 98 and 99, not sure exactly what. ACT was a 33 at first, improved it to a 35 the second time. SAT was high 2100s first time, high 2200s second time around (don't remember exactly what the scores were honestly).

Didnt take a full tour but enjoyed the architecture, the location, and overall mood. I don't think ill get in unfortunately

Damn nice. I'm at 33 ACT and like 2300 SAT.

Damn you murdered the SAT. I was hoping to hit 2300 bit it didn't happen unfortunately. Where are you applying?

Honestly fuck this thread. Im stoked to go to college but i hate how its the only thing elder people want to talk to me about

Applied to The Evergreen State College in Washington. Got accepted, but think I'm going to take a gap year out there with one of my best friends before starting up the college life. Also tryna live close to Mt Hood during the gap year. Maybe volunteer with different programs and at some point try to work in a group home. The plan.

Applied to University of Virginia red decision, probably a 50-50 there. If accepted I'd have to do a lot of thing

If that doesn't go thru and even if it maybe does, moving cross-country out to southern Washington for a year to work, get that in-state tuition, and finish up a couple pre-reqs at UW Seattle which I'm pretty sure is 100% for me. If I don't get accepted there.... idk man

Living in Vancouver for the year, hmu if anyone's gonna be around there it'd be nice to get at least a few buds

BC is one of my top choices for a couple reasons.

I go to a jesuit school, so we generally send a lot of kids there every year. It's solid academically and not too big or too small imo. It's just outside Boston so great location but you don't have to deal with the city when you want too. Also, close enough for skiing. Good lib arts program.

You have a couple years to decide its not immediate. My wall street friends from BC all started pursuing internships, etc there sophmore summer.

Got into Dartmouth ED, so looks like I'll be headed to Hanover next year.

I'd love to see if any other NS'ers will be '20s there next year or any that already attend, because half the reason I applied was for the ski culture (I've wanted to go there since I was about 11). I already have a few buddies there, but it never hurts to find some new ones, especially those who ski.

Yeah but once you're in the business school, you have to do something business related.

Applied RD, reach like all ivies but getting in isn't out of the question either. Friend got recruited for crew so he'll attend and skis too.

Congrats btw.

The way I look at it...even if your not doing "business"...chances are you will be working for a business of some sort and will need to know how it operates. That or engineering would be my advice to undergrads. Can do virtually anything with those degrees

What are you planning on studying? I ended up with similar scores and gpa, but I dont really need to apply now cause I'm gonna be gone the next 2 years. Not sure where Ill go after.

Engineering I think. But I'm kind of second guessing myself right now because I love AP econ this year and I'm not a fan of AP physics. It'll all work out though

AP Econ and APUSH are the two best HS classes I've taken.

I'm a junior, so things could change. But so far ND, Georgetown, BC, and Dartmouth are probably my top choices, but there are a lot of schools I'd be really stoked to go to.

You catholic by any chance? I'm not aha so I really don't have a shot at getting into ND. Still wanted to apply though even though that and it's a little far for my liking

I am haha... Yeah 80% of students are Catholics, but part of that is probably self-selection. The campus is awesome and everyone I talked to was super cool. South Bend is shitty, but it's 1 hr. from Chicago and like 45 mins. from skiing.

Did you apply?

Indeed I did. Yea I've been on campus a bunch of times. One official college visit and a bunch of football games. Absolutely gorgeous. It's a long drive for me though...14 hours maybe?

On another note, how are religious schools allowed to "discriminate" against other religions? It doesn't bother me, I'm just curious how it's allowed in our world when everyone is so PC and equal oppertunity....

Its a private institution, like any business. They can choose to serve whoever they want. Also, you arent born a certain religion like race.

I visited UTK for a week for a church camp thing and it was alright. Walking around campus is tiring as fuck and it was hot as fuck. Also no skiing. I enjoyed it but isn't a contender for me

Word. I applied to UTK mainly as a safety school, so I probably won't end up there.

Got accepted to Plymouth state with an undeclared major. Going to boost my GPA, roll the dice, and shoot for Nursing. If worst comes to worst I'll pick a major in some health science and be a Paramedic or Backcountry first responder

I'm a Junior and am seriously considering Dartmouth ED next year. Could you describe your experience with ED at Dartmouth?

Well... what do you want me to describe? It's a lot like applying early at any other school. Visit a bunch of times, stay some days and nights with friends (if you know any), ask questions, get your shit done on time, be well prepared. If you want any more specifics feel free to ask. Basically, if you know it's where you wanna go, shoot in that app.

Did you have an alumni interview?

Never known anyone who goes to a school with a grading system that's not out of 4.0. Can you explain how this works? Is that 98 out of 100?

Where I go, A is 4.0, B+ is 3.5, B is 3.0, etc. but even the very very top students (relatively good private school) end up with a 90-94/100 max in any class that isn't non-honors (required religion).

I guess I could see some kids at my local public school have high averages, close to 100, but their cirriculum is a joke. Where I attend, the way teachers grade, it's virtually impossible to have over a 95/100 average. Is your's weighted or something?

I want to go to Iowa State or University Minnesota Duluth.

I've been accepted to both UMD and Iowa State.

I thought engineering at first but took an AP Physics course and decided hell no, so now I'll probably just do Finance.

Got into UMD and Iowa State.

I was thinking about majoring in engineering then I took a AP Physics class which made me rethink and know I'll just do business.

yea so it's a 98 out of 100, and no, none of my classes have been weighted throughout my highschool career (with the exception of tests in AP calc, where where we get back a quarter of the points we lost). Sure, certain categories are weighted more than others, for example, maybe tests will be 30%, quizzes will be 20%, homework is 20%, participation is 20%, and classwork will be 10% (that's just an example, not necessarily how it works). in each category, there will be a certain number of points you can get in a quarter, and that number varies on how many test, homework assignments, etc you have, and then that percentage is averaged (weighted as in the example above) with all of the other percentages in the other categories. Idk its not that odd around here, most schools do out of 100 non weighted and kids have high averages.

That being said, I'm on track to be the salutatorian (behind some Asian chick who does nothing but study - but that's a different issue lol) so I guess I'm higher than most.

I go to a pretty damn good public school, so I don't think that's the problem. Out of the ~100 school districts around me, my school is in the top 3 yearly based on test scores, graduation rate, overall quality, etc, and we send tons of kids to really good schools.

Must be a regional thing I guess.

Wasn't going to post inthis thread but at the gym I heard kids from my HS talking about where they were going and it made me cringe. Dickheads about to pay big money to go to a shit school like Bucknell or go to somewhere gay like Clemson thinking its a real school.

I got fucking C's in HS and I went to Syracuse just had a good interview you can pull some shit off like that. Don't go somewhere shitty go to community and transfer to a real school.

This thread is 2 things people who got into good schools posting that and kids who will be working retail talking about garbage schools that cost serious coin. (Boston U you fuckin serious #sucks2BU? don't waste your parents money on a worthless degree there you tools.)

But grow up man if you cant get into a real school accept it and go to community or learn a trade don't spend 50k a year on garbage private.

I make more money right now than anyone I know from my hometown (wealthy Newton MA) or Syracuse my year and Im a weird ass dude just be yourself but don't waste your parents money make them buy you a car before you go to a garbage school at private costs. Or out of state shit school.

If you like skiing and like your school being the shit in sports BYU is a great place to go. I LOVE BYU athletics they are my second team since all those kids serve missions and put God first.

I hate UU that school is gay af BYU is the truth love them in hoop and football.

I want to go to whistler.

I was accepted into whistler

I'm getting my masters in shredding the gnar.

is this a serious post or are you trolling?? Not to put rankings on any sort of pedestal, but BU is a top 30 school for the US. They are a massive research institution with tens of thousands of students in the middle of fucking Boston. How can you even begin to call whatever they do "worthless"? I didn't even apply there but do some research before you write stupid ass comments like this.

Are you really going to try to disrespect Clemson and then say you went to Syracuse. Kid, they accept C-Bs as their averages, you aren't hot shit. Clemson is a good school and has a way better rep than Syracuse.

You have no clue what shit is coming out of your mouth. Community college over a real college? I really don't know how stupid you are. It doesn't matter where you even go to school, its what you do in college and in real life.

Back to Clemson, really? Maybe if you weren't as big as a dumb fuck you would also realize Clemson and Syracuse are tied in rankings, which they shouldn't be, but even more reason for you not to talk shit. Both colleges are tied at 61.

Sounds like you're mad you fucked up big time in highschool and now thing you are hot shit because you are a the bottom line of what Syracuse accepts. Who the fuck are you really?

Schools I've Applied To:

-SUNY Adirondack (ACC)

-SUNY Potsdam

-SUNY Plattsburgh

-Johnson State College

-Plymouth State University

Got accepted to four of those schools (haven't heard back from Plattsburgh yet), and Plymouth State and Plattsburgh are my top choices. I applied undecided because there's so many things I want to do, but I don't really know what I want to do for the rest of my life.
