I'm going to gore for the first time ever next weekend. How's the park? Are there any glades/trails i should check out? How much snow is up there now?thanks and ++++++k for helpful replys

im not sure how much is gonna be open like glade wise and stuff cause its been a pretty warm march. hopefully everything will still be in decent shape though. if its not, give it another try next year or whenever cause its a fun mountain

i was up the first weekend of march and it was pretty fresh. just some playful boxes and some rails. and a bunch of decent jumps

Go there knowing that the park is sub prime and glades will be closed. But there should be some nice bumps forming up top

the bumps at the top(i.e. rumor and lies) were deff. primethe park wasn't that greatthe "big park" was set up like thisfdf box20 foot step downshort up boxsick c boxa choice of a frame rail and a battleship rail which was blocked off and eventually dug out by the park crew for no apparent reasonthen a 40(?) foot booter that pops you up a ton and is sorta sketch but sick for spins
the park was deff sup prime so if i were you stay up top and ski the bumps if they're still open
keep in mind also that the first day i went it was 50+ and the second day it was 60 something

Yeah def not 40 feet. i would go 25 max and thats if you take it all the way down the landing.

But yeah it wouldnt be so bad if that set up wasnt the same one that had been running all season. Gets reallllllyyy boring fast

waitif you were there saturday they took out the step up step down option at the bottom and replaced it with a booter(still not really sure the lenth of the gap)

Gore doesn't build jumps even close to 40. Last year we had a 26 footer that we were told to make a sign for that said 35 but we didnt want to lie. One kid got fired over it

it was close to about 50. jason took out the whole battleship contraption and uused that snow, took out the left side lip and added it to the right, and took out the massive lip onto the shotgun down and used that snow. and scraped whatever was between the shotgun and the jump, which was actually quite a bit.

the lip was choppy as fuck though, and really narrow. he wanted 1/2 the lip to be so you could hit it as a hip, so it was really steep there and the other half mellow for the gap. we bitched at him for a while until he cut the "hip" side back enough so there was enough room to spin it. it was still pretty hairy and incredibly hard to clear though

Jason doesn't even hit the jumps he builds, then he says they have a "6 inch vert lip" and proceeds to ruin it. He also laid off the 2 park guys that actually ski park and lets the one who doesnt stay. wtf.

The last jump (which he had changed to like 40 ft he had close off because it was too "dangerous" and you couldnt get enough speed for it. I went and re opened it and it was Prime. He needs to get replaced, gores park has sucked for years, and he still works there. maybe a new park manager would help.

the whole design made no sense.

everything stayed the same all year. some people actually wanted to hit a dfd for a change.

the first jump blew all year, nothing like the booter we had last year. (3 days to build. Most of the first day was dragging all the snow back by hand because it was set to be a 15-20 footer, and it needed to be at least a 35. It was nice for a while though)

the up box was alright. The cbox was alright but the setup was wierd, and you had to be scared of shaving in.

the double rail option that combined would only be 3 feet long, was alright but you just kinda bonked it and were off.

the laast booter was alright at the beggining of the year. Than they moved the bigger option to the woods side, and pointed it away from the landing and slightly toward the woods, like if you hit the middle and went straight youd just catch the dge of the landing.

Then when speed finally becomes and issue in the sping, they finally decide to puch it up so you cant get speed.

to all that are thinkin of wasting your money up there. If you ski strictly tree, steeps, or bumps who could have a good time. I worked in the park there 6/7 days a week for two years, tried to help that place out. But its beat. You could def tell this year.

No park crew can keep up with the cat daily undercutting every jump so the sides fall in. running into rails and bending them everyway. destoying more in a night than actually helping. Plus the fact that i got fired while i was helping dane hand rake the pipe off the clock, since there cat driver cant even get a mini pipe to be rideable.(literally picture the worst attempt at a pipe youve ever seen. maybe a backyard attempt, now picture something way way worse)

if anyone wants to buy my pass for 10 bucks for the last weekend let me know. Im never going near that mountain again

end rant- peace

Ps: carefree and tp2, you guys made a good attempt, told you it wasnt gonna matter though. thanks for trying

I hate when parks have potential but are hindered by mountain management, park management or shitty cat drivers

Its funny that you are saying that pretty much reach the same conclusion all the old staff has reached. Hahah

Respect to you guys tho.

Yeah, it was still an awesome job though, much better than scrubbing dishes or something. But Gore seriously needs a new park manager. One who doesn't have his head up his ass. The stuff you guys had at west this year was nicer than the features at gore, and I would have to imagine the budget is a lot less at west.

We have no budget. Well I take that back cause we did get some new fence and found a shovel. But our drill got stolen.

Last year we all got layed off on the 31st and we still had a rail jam on the 12th of April. I ended up working for free which blew. Not to mention he never told us that untill 3 oclock on that sunday. apparently its in the contract you sign.
