How's Discovery?

actually, i was looking at snocountry.com, and they only had a map of the front side. i went to discovery's site and the map of the back side actually looks pretty damn fun. anyone ever ski there?

Discovery is pretty fun. I went there with my mom, dad, and brother a couple weekends ago. The backside has some pretty sick terrain that is protected from the sun. Although we didn't hit it when it had fresh snow, it was still fun, but it would be really sick to have some pow there. The back has a bunch of double blacks and at least one triple black that we found. At the bottom of the bowl with all the double blacks we were able to build a fun jump on these natural rollers.

Their park was terrible and probably not even worth mentioning, but they did have two boxes. If you can hit it on a pow day, I would strongly recommend it.

^huh, I used to be able to see those pictures, but I can't now. Oh well, it is fun there.

yah disco is legit. the backside is definitely montana's hidden treasure if you can hit it on a mad pow day. some super steep, sick terrain on the back, and yah the bottom of those bowls have huge snow fields that are perfect for huge jumps.

if disco has a fresh 12" the back side is straight ballin, best skiing around, but it seems like they dont get that much snow anymore. the park sucks, but its their first season with one so im not surprised

Disco is super fun. The back side is one of the best parts of a mountain ive riden on a pow day. The park could use work but the owners son is building it by himself so bear with 'em.

hansel been skiing for a long time even skied Discovery quite a bit, not sure if I am buying the triple black diamond you claim they have. Never heard of that. But go to Disco when it dumps the backside is sick!!!! No cliffs, but steep.

allow me to interject... but there is a triple black. it's above the field in the pictures shown above. it's like jefferson? or something of the sort. really steep through the tree's. unless there is more than one of these infamous triple black's... i know for a fact that i've seen the sign posted on the tree, i even remember mocking the 'triple black'.
search, and you will find

I think the one I found was called "Russell" It was off in the trees; I was surprised to see a sign at all. My brother took a picture of the sign, but I don't have it right now. Here is the general location of it.

It's right near that big black line. It definitely was steeper then their double blacks, and it was pretty tight as far as tree cover goes, but not many people had been on it, so it was pretty fun. (The jump we built was at the bottom of Little Finger)

YES! RUSSEL sounds about right. that's good shit. plus, a beer at the 7 Gables after the day of shredding is always a good time

This is true it is called Russell's, it's named for a dude who died there. Its a sick run as long as there's snow, which there usually is, not many people hit it, its super dense with trees and there's a big cliff near the bottom that seems pretty sketchy to hit.

But anyways disco is a sick mountain, i love the fact that you don't have to traverse far to get to the steep stuff as most other places do, there's very little wait to get back on the lift. And if it dumps disco is so sick.

The park is pretty weak but it is the first time but we reorganized it making it a lot better, we're currently looking to get some new features in and expanding it further, hopefully.
