How you started to love skiing

Searchbarred and nothing came up. if it is a repost mods take it down

I wanna know what made you guys love skiing or start to like it and got you hooked. Whether it was an edit or the feeling of landing a new trick or whatever it was. Tell me what comes to mind.

When I was like 8, my dad took me to x games and I I just thought it was so sick watching bobby brown do the switch dub misty 12 to win slopestyle

The advent of the Salomon 1080. That period of time when snowboarding was SO much cooler than skiing (especially at like age 13) was kinda depressing.

My brother and my friends always told me i should ski with them but i never did. Until my brother showed me a ski movie segment which i can't even remember. So i decided going to the mountain.By the time the lifts closed i was a full addict. Then came all those guys Seth Morisson ,Kaj Zackrisson, Shane , Abma, Candide Thovex , Jp Auclair , Julien Regnier , Thall , Cr Johnson etc etc to hype me up.

I was 21 and my friends were going night skiing and had been telling me I should go. I went and had a blast sliding around getting shitty with my friends and so I just never stopped until it just took over my whole life.

Pollard and Mike Nick, I had been skiing for as long as I could walk but that's what got me into the newschool stuff, also the OG Ninthward edits with Shiest D

I've always loved going skiing but what got me into park was a combination of FREEZE and a pair of snowblades. They were cool back then ok!!!

The freedom within the sport. No rules. Ski however you want and where you want. Progression is limitless so there is always motivation to get better and better

i always loved skiing but then i stayed up past my bed time and watched this...

and quickly realized things like this

were already happening. and i was hooked

i loved skiing before i started watching ski movies i always begged my family to hurry the fuck up so i could get on the slopes earlier. once i did my first 360 i pretty much knew.

I've loved to ski since I was young, but finding NS is what really got me interested in hitting the park

i snowboarded quite a bit when I was younger, but kind of drifted from it over the years due to being busy with school, not being close to a hill, etc. once i finished grad school and got a job, i decided i needed something to keep me entertained in the winter...started riding my snowboard again but was blown away by how far ski tech had come. tried out a pair of twin tips and haven't put my board back on since.

I started to love skiing right when I did for the first time, then after 7 years I went skiing indoors about one year ago and saw one freeskier among all the snowboarders sliding a handrail and I was hooked ever since!

adam delorme's walk in the park edit convinced me to invest in a ski setup and switch over

This guy inspired me.

I've skied since the age of 5, but when I was 10 I saw people hitting a box, decided to give it a shot. And, well, here I am!

I was a snowboarder for almost six years, borrowed my sisters skis for a couple of days one season, Watched Team Americas 2009 JOSS edit close to 10,000 times over the summer and I havent been on a board since

12th birthday got a pair of skis and brothers friends at the time took me skiing and thats when I started going frequently and hitting stuff. Before that I use to just ski a couple times a year. But if there was one thing that made me realize how much I liked it was boosting this hip at my home mountain for a couple days before I got my own skis that season. other than that i have always skied and loved it

In the 4th grade my parents started letting me ski without them, it opened up a whole new world for me. I had just quit my mountains racing program earlier in the year but I suddenly realized how much fun it is too just go explore shit while skiing.

My parents put me on skies when I was 2, and I've never backed down! I've loved every 17 years! Traveling Circus got me into wanting to shred park though

My school was super small growing up and every year every class would save up the empty bottles from lunch, and it would actually end up paying for quite a bit of the Jr.High ski trip... So finally I was in Jr. High and since I had to sacrifice lots of my lunch hours to collect, clean, and sort the bottles I thought to hell with it I better go on this ski trip... No one in my class could ski anyway so we all learned together. Had a killer time and that first taste of freedom bombing down the long ass bunny hill in the mountains hardly being able to turn got me hooked right there and then and I promised myself I'd get good(ish) someday. Then later down the road I found Travelling circus somehow online and the whole skiing/freeskiing/ski bum culture took over my life.

I skied a few times every year when I was young. I think the elementary school I went to started bringing us on a day trip to my ski hill in first grade and then all the way through sixth. Then I went on a ski trip with a friend in high school and had one of the funnest trips of my life and I have been hooked from then on.

Once I saw that TWall Breck edit I was hooked on doing park, but I still find the steep and deep to be more enjoyable.

started out by snowboarding, (I was part of that phase) then I switched to skiing because i thought it would be easier to tour backcountry. Went up as many times that year as I had in my 6 years of snowboarding.

I grew up in ski country so i always was skiing, but i think the first time skiing really grabbed me right in the heart was watching the hit list...god damn that movie was truly amazing

I've skied since I was a little kid and in middle school I did this thing called Snowdodgers where I would go with a bunch of kids in my class in a school bus to Loveland and shred. I think I started just getting into it around 7th grade, so like 2008, but then it was really that edit up above of Tom at Breck that got me into freeskiing.

Yeah TC pretty much taught me everything involving freeskiin initially. Aside from my dad havin me ski since I was like five. TC got me into the park life

Ever since I started going to telluride every year since i was less than 7 or 6, I just couldn't stop talking about skiing and for months before and after going to telluride skiing pushed all other thoughts out of my head. After a day was done I just couldn't stop talking about skiing, and I would beg my parents to take me when we went back to New York. I got into park skiing in around the 6th or 7th grade, as I started watching trampoline videos on youtube and started using the trampoline in my backyard almost everyday, and had to watch videos to find new tricks to do, and that eventually brought me to skiing tricks and then people actually doing these tricks on skis. The idea of this combined with already my favorite activity was so incredibly cool, and that's when I got obsessed with park. My true love remains what lies in the backcountry, unexplored lines and cliffs and adventure. But living in the east, that is a tough dream to follow, but as long as I'm on skis I'm happy.

i have been skiing since i could walk. i have always been able to connect with skiing. nothing seems to make me happier. just a natural love

I was deep in the womb when my mom was shredding. Then when I was born my parents would wrap me in a jacket, multiple blankets and put me in a backpack as my dad would ski down. Then when I could walk they strapped me in. I was set up to ski from such a young age that I was never given the chance to dislike it. It is just part of my life and has been since day 1. I still rep the same jacket my dad wore from 20 years ago when I was wrapped up in his backpack. Shit is righteous as fuck.

I was at Mount Snow this week in VT and saw a 60 year old all grey/white hair homie sending jumps. Then today saw some guy who had to be at least 75 comin down from the summit. All I wish for in this life is to be able to ski as long as I'm alive.

Shouts out dad you raised me an okay kid but a better skier.
