How wide is the park ski gonna get?

Seriously, it the "standard" park ski gets wider and wider each year. I'd say the average for what is advertised as a park ski is around 85. Ofcourse there are exceptions, like the JO Pro and stuff, but still. Post your opinions

the anthem is probably the most legit wide park ski in general
some people like park skis really wide (i.e. EP with lizzies)

but i've heard really good things about the anthems

i won't call lizzies park skis even though they're fun but i rock bluehouse mr's in the park and they're 93 waist, they don't feel it though

110, lizzies are true park skis, the flex is so soft they barely can be anything else.

but with the amount of people skiing anthems, arvs, mrs, kung fujas and the like in the park, ur seeing an uptick on slightly wider stuff. big influx on the 90-95 waisted park skis.

haha i kno they make a super dope all mountain ski for a smaller skier, especially good in powder. thing is, im 6'5 and 200 lbs, so to me, park only, id crush them trying to ski them all mountain, actually, id crush them anywhere, shame, i do love soft skis.

agree

90 seems HUGE when in comes to park. I have a feeling that big mountain is gonna back off a little bit and settle around mid 115's

crazy think that 10 years ago, nothing was over 85

you my friend are crazy.

i prefer 86 underfoot around a size 181. skis will probably stay close to what they are now 78-95 depending. and there will always be exceptions but id say around 84-88 will be the norm.

i think around 100 is about the limit for a good pure park type ski, something around 90-100 really isnt that wide, and it can be awesome for jumps. like anthems, they dont seem very wide at all when your skiing them

i have been using my lizzies this summer as a park ski.. i am 5'8-9 and 140.. for me they were just too fat.. super fun as a landing platfrom but you felt as if you were really forcing them through quick spins.. undeniably they work 'fine' for the odd park session.. but using them as your pure park ski, well if you are as good as pollard then go for it.. but i would get something narrower.. i have a rail jam tomorrow and I am praying my volkl walls arrive in time to use them..

I use a 93 wide ski in the park.

I personally love jibbing with wider skis. They feel so much more solid. Heavier, but solid as fuck.

I couldnt see going wider than 100mm though. They would probably be too heavy. (although, the scratch BC/Brigade/Whatever is like 98 underfoot @ 178, and they kill it in the park)

its all personal preference, but i would never use anything wider than 90 as my pure park ski. then again, i wont even center-mount my skis (although i go pretty close, -2cm), so i guess you could say im a bit oldschool

i think that park skis will eventually get to the width of the brigade/bc. but it has a 96 waist in the 178. its 98 in the 185 or w/e the next size is. i tested the s5 last year and it was sweet for all mountain, and i would definitely play with it in the park.

o rly? you just made a thread yesterday asking what bindings to put on your mr's. can you really feel the difference? even without the bindings on them?

the kung fujas is a 98...and that is pretty much a park ski that kills it everywhere...but not a "true park ski" as such the JO is....

but u are right though they are def. getting wider...take the new thruster...(not called the thruster i just cant think of the name)...its 88 under foot!! and its considered as a fucking junior ski!(well youth if u wanna get all specific)

the new thruster is the suspect isnt it? r u thinking of the threat? idk the width on it but i took the place of the flyer if thats what you are thinking of

Just wait, park skis will get 100mm standard, then there will be a counter 'skinny park ski' revolution and we'll all go back to 70mm.

Hah, you guys are silly. Your park ski can be as skinny, or as fat as you want it. But I'd say the standard is anywhere between 80-90mm right now. Which I like.

I think the average will top out around the mid 90's underfoot (obviously some will be bigger and some skinnier). then, i actually wouldn't be surprised if things started to get skinnier again, maybe not 70mm, but like high 70s to low/mid 80s. who knows though. maybe the next big thing is riding one super fatty ski. wait....

Well for 09, my narrowest ski is a 93. Unless I decide to ressurect the foils for a day or two.

But I'll be rocking 93mm Anthems for all park, and I'll definately be bringing the 115mm Bacons in the park too for jumps only.

I used to rock pocket rockets as my park ski (90 underfoot) and I always really liked them...and you can be surprisingly tech on rails even with a wider waist....claim?
