How unlegit is it to not have center mounted ski's in the park?

Ok, so i got my ski's last season and my dad had them drilled to his gaper racing shit setup or watever where they are wayyyyy back. Then i told him to get them remounted, and he shows up with my ski's drilled a little less than an inch from the original spot they were mounted at, nowhere near true center. So will i look like a fucking douchebag with my ski's not center mounted when all i do is ski park? And should sacrifice the strength of my ski and get them drilled a 3rd time?

Why don't you take control and show where you want them mounted? It is going to mess with park skiing, though if your asking this question it might not affect your skiing.

what skis do you have, if they are symmetrical then of course it will be bad.

but if you have skis say, like, the alpha series, you will want them to be mounted back a little

i would have them mounted again, it will negatively effect your skiing otherwise.

does having your skis mounted again and again really degrade its strength that much?

sorry if thats a noob question

You dont need center mouned skis to ski park you know. Kids on NS are all about true center. The only skis I mount true center are symmetrical ones, otherwise I go -2 or -3

I made the same mistake as you. Honestly just get em remounted. If they break they break. Park skis don't really last that long anyways. Otherwise it's gona bug you all fucking season. Your gona be constantly looking down at ur skis wishing they were center mounted.

Your problem was assuming that your dad knew exactly where you wanted your skis mounted. Draw a line, easiest way to avoid this problem. He cant read your mind you know..

And more info is needed really. I would try to avoid mounting skis a 3rd time. What kind of skis are they and how far back from true center are they

i heard you cant truely afterbang unless your dead center.

but for real it wont effect you that much. until last year i always skiied about 1 back. unless your riding switch a ton it should bother you at all.

that is not alot back at all

first pair of twins was way back

like 6

its easier when learning to have em like 3 back but it doesnt really matter

i dont mount skis center unless they are symmetrical

I believe that unless your skis are symmetrical you shouldn't be center mounting them. A little bit back from true center is totally fine... although too far back might be a little annoying.

it just depends if your skis are symmetrical cause if they are i would get them re-mounted but if they are not then they should be just fine were you have them mounted.

if you are lucky enough to have a park ski and a pow/all mountain ski, mount dead center. thats my position at least.
i don't see the point in having a dedicated park ski that isn't true centered.
but thats me.

if these are the only skis you own it probably is a good idea to keep them where they're at, as long as they aren't WAY far back. If you also own a pair of all mtn type skis then i would have your park skis dead center, they are way more fun that way imo, but they will be pretty much useless anywhere else.

well....considering that about 80% of park skis are directional, they really aren't meant to be center mounted anyway. It does make life easier to have the mounted close to center though.

i apologize for nobody properly answering your question. the answer is yes, you will most definitely look like a douche. the first thing us newschoolers look when we see a skier is to see if you have that 1 inch difference from true center or mounted back and we HATE that shit. go mount those babiez a 3rd time you gaper.

my volkl karmas are mounted at 2cm back which is a little less than an inch.

I work at a ski shop. seriously, you should just make friends at teh shop, and mount yourself, but i would remount cuz my edges are always fucked after a season anyway.

1. you should not care what you look like. 2. if you can ski park with them mounted where they are then it works3. go back and watch ski movie 3, focused, stereotype, strike 3, happy dayz, and see that you don't need center mounted skis to slay shit.

Really? the only thing you should be worried about is if the skis are 100% symmetrical. Will it affect your riding? maybe. center skis are easier to hit rails and go switch. But my first year of park, my skis were 7 back and i could do stuff fine. Do you really think that you are weird if you don't have centered skis?

Re-mount 'em especially if you're running a park boot. you'll never be able to turn your ski if you have a more upright boot than a race style boot. if you're using an all-mountain boot then you probalby shouldn't mount center either, but if all you're doing is park then just sneak your skis away from your dad and do them right.
