How to stop a dog from peeing inside?

hahahahahaha. already, you're going to have fun.

this might sound bad but when they pee in the house find the pee bring the dog near the pee and put their nose it it. do this a couple times and it will work. also bring them outside and whenever they pee or poop give them a treat. that will make them learn to poop/pee outside

If your dog is a puppy then it's kinda hard.

What works really well is positive reinforcement.

Every time your dog pees outside immediately give them lots of praise and a treat or two.

When she pees inside don't really scold, just kinda be disappointed, because they don't know that they shouldn't pee inside. It will take a while to get it 100%, but it creates a healthy relationship and makes the dog feel proud not shameful.

If you can also have a newspaper in a certain spot on the ground and give your dog praise when she goes on that. This is because she will probably not be able to make it outside in the beginning. This way it lessens the mess. Slowly wean her off that by taking her for frequent walks. Always bring lots of treats on the walks for when she pees or poops.

i am guessing that this is a young dog

and young dogs physically can't control their bladder.

take it outside, to the same spot, every 30 minutes and don't forget the treats. as she/he gets older, increase the time between busy trips.

eventually, you will pick up on how your dog "says" that it's potty time.

My puppy (four month old golden doodle) will just stare at the outside door and bark, when he needs do go. You will figure it out.

One thing to remember.

If little gypsy has an accident, it is not her fault. It is your fault for not taking her out in time.

alot of times if dogs get over excited they will pee right there. i've had to clean tons of messes because i tend to get dogs a little too riled up...
if shes older you should act super stoked when she goes to the bathroom outside and give her a bunch of treats. when she goes inside grab her by the scruff and and put her head by it and point at it and scold her something fierce.

scream at it so it knows whos the boss but dont hit it so that it wont be scared of you

when she pees in the house clean it up, and spray it with a mixture of viniger and water to cover up the smell. if she smells the pee there she will pee again in the same spot.

and dont be mad for too long, they only know what they did for like 10 minutes so if your still mad after 10 minutes they will just hate you.

i wouldnt be surprised if she is housebroken, shes in a new place and everything is new to her. im sure once she settles down she will stop peeing inside.

I can envisage NSG having many many gypsy-related threads over the coming weeks haha

THe positive reinforcement thing works - praise when they do it outside, punishment for doing it inside

Take her outside and use a word to signify bathroom or whatever, potty is what we use for my dog, anyways after they eat or drink take them outside and just say go potty all nice and happy untill they do it then reward them with petting and excitement and say good potty and repeat that tell your sick of it, just keep that up, My dog fakes it when he doesn't have to go just so we shut up. Yuo dotn have to always reward with treats , we never do just be happy and pet them and yeah , just remember dogs dont speak english so they have to be trained to recognize one word, No is bad, good is good only one word per aaction or there like fuck you. im confused, i dont care.

same thing as everyone else. positive reinforcement. treats or whatever when she goes outside.

also as someone said. when you scold her, after 5-10 minutes. shes forgotten what she did, so theres no point in being mad anymore.

also yeah, she should get better as she gets used to the house. shes fucking confused right now

we have a springer and they are insanely wild and it took us forever to train ours just keep putting it outside

I stopped reading after the retard who told you to rub their nose in it. My best friends mom is a dog trainer and I successfully house trained my dog when I was 12.

Dogs who are not use to their surroundings will be nervous and pee wherever they can. You have to give her time to get used to your house. You can't tell a dog they're doing something bad after they've done it. They don't understand that. You have to catch them in the act and sternly say No then show them to go outside and praise them when they do something right.

This also works when they take off running. Best thing for that is to teach them how to stay then call them and praise them AFTER they come to you. Not while they're on their way. Never hit them or get mad when they come back to you otherwise they won't want to come back. Perfect example: My step mom always yells at my dog when he runs away and he will never go near her. If I call him he'll come to me because I praise him for coming back.

You have to show dominance and be stern when you have to and nice when you should be. If you need to get their attention, poke them on the side hard enough so they notice you. This shows dominance. They love to please so the happier you are when they do something good the better.

If you have to leave and can't take her with her and don't feel comfortable with her being tied out you can put her in a crate. Make sure shes gone before you put her in and never leave them alone too long. Water is a must but food is not. You can leave a radio on in the next room too. If they hear talking they can sometimes relax more. Dogs will not go to the bathroom where they sleep so unless she's in a dire situation she will not pee in the crate.

I'm not a fan of crates though. They're unhumane and the only use I can think of for them is travel. I don't like having my dog tied out all day but he's on a long run and has a warm place to go if the weather is bad.

word to the radio that always helps. before we had my dog trained we just kept her in the kitchen at night/when we were gone, cuz that was the only non carpeted place. left her water and the radio on quietly.

if there's a room in your house with a tiled or stone floor or something keep her in there, i.e kitchen, so that way it's easy to clean up and you can keep track of heras she starts to get better just open up one room at a time but get those little doggy gates to keep her in the kitchen so you don't go up to your room at 2 am and find piss in your bed
