Hey guys, im really hyped for freestyle skiing in the snowpark.

im skiing since im 11 years old and now im 21 but since i started skateboarding 2 years ago i have so much interess for skiing at the snowpark i started it last year with a 50-50 on a small box but i want to go on rails and i have anixiety to crash with my head on the rail idk why :D.. could you give me some tips how to hit the smaller rails and what i need to learn at the beginning.

Im skiing alone because no one of my friends love skiing :/ .

im training at the local trampoline hall some 180s and 360s with their skiis.

And do you know where i can find some Freestyle Ski Camps ?

to meet new people to ski and learn new tricks?

thank you very much.

If you fall once, you will realize that it doesn't hurt (except if its really icy) and the fear will usually go away. Also try to make friends with other skiers.

Umm.... falling hurts like Medusa’s cunt sometimes except in pow pow

gotta learn to fall that’s no 1

Watch some how to vids and start small with box slides then move to rails

best off if you can already pop , at least spin a 180 , and land switch

For sure meet some skiers who are better than you. Watch and ask for tips. For the love of skiing they will help you progress. But you have to put the work in and take some spills. Know your limits and wear a helmet.

Buy helmet and use it, watch all of traveling circus, build a dryland setup for some practice and buy a season pass to the nearest ski hill with a park.

Im wearing a helmet every Time i go on skiing :)

Wasn't talking about myself. I assume that op won't go very big cause he is a beginner. Also saying that falling always hurts won't help him to come over his fears.

Ich bin aw deitch ich wohn in der United States. my ancestors came from Switzerland

alsace Lorraine. I’ve just started skiing.

exactly! ski with people who are a little better than you, watch skiing videos, wear that helmet, and every now and then give yourself a little push to try something scary but ONLY when you can truly visualize yourself doing it. that sounds stupid but it's really true in skiing

think of park skiing like a tree of skills. you start with a small bulb at the bottom and as you learn things you can branch out from them and learn other stuff. and everyone's tree is different, so take note of what parts feel easier to you and branch out from them first

also ask questions (here and in real life) and once you get going on tricks, try to get videos of yourself because you (and/or people on here) will very easily be able to see what you're doing right and wrong

"sorry for my bad english"

writes better english than half the members on the site

Most Americans do speak English well...it’s all derp vape derp derp

Id like to think a lot of our internet speak is just laziness I like to shorthand , use slang etc just to save time

personally i cannot write my own name in cursive anymore , haven’t had a consistent need for any writing in years when I try omg lol

the local schools no longer teach cursive ??‍♂️

Some resorts have park and pipe lessons with ski instructors, if you want to by-pass the learn-for-yourself way. Watching a shit ton of ski movies will no make you learn tricks. It comes with practice and trial and error.

Dont be afraid to ask around in the park, most people are really nice and give ya a few pointers on the spot.

Avoid Camps, unless your a trust fund child; they are crazy expensive just for the basics.

The best way to enjoy freestyle is to go out there and try.

Ski fast. Take chances. Find a spot to launch yourself through the air, and once you've got that figured out, huck a backflip. Your world will change and you will never be the same person again.

A backflip on skis :O that is my goal to do that

Hey man, totally understand that it is scary to hit your first rail. Sounds like you're on the right track by starting with 50-50's on boxes. Stoked that you are keen to get better at jibbing. We have made our own tutorial on how to progress from boxes to rails and think it could be really helpful for you. Feel free to check it out here https://skiaddiction.com/blogs/tutorials/hitting-your-first-box

Consume nothing except packaged ramen and Monster

fill your instagram with photos of chairlifts

look at any feature of a city and think about how to jib it (doesn’t matter how unrealistic)

be ok with being broke

-feel free to add on anything I missed-

And dont fall into the “i only like hitting rails, jumps are lame, im a rail jibber” trap.

Everybody knows that in order to score poontang in the park you have to send it on the big line.

Not being able to hit jumps is degenerate.

:(

also OP, one of the big things for progression and upping your confidence levels is ski the park when its warm and slushy

best time to fall couse you really wont get hurt like ever

Excellent point. Slushy or crunchy wet snow makes the park seem like a padded playground.

i dont do much when its boilerplate ice. Falling on ice is about as much fun as being gang raped

Except if you live in New England

Mostly we have only girls camps (for free) in Austria. But you can also go to the Stompit Camp on Stubaier if you are a rich kid. Aber du kannst auch einfach in irgend nen Park gehen und einen x-beliebigen Freeskier fragen wie das so geht. So hab ich das gemacht.

These and that. Some people are learning fast, some not. I started the freeski game 2 seasons ago. I still don't know the name of the most tricks I do - but I love to ski. My favourite is 5050 on polesticks 180 off. Hope I will do it with a 360 this season. And backie and cork 7 is also a goal.

Rollerblade !!

Yeah rollerblading the tabletops at skateparks is great practice to build your balance ability among other things. If nothing else rollerblading will make you realize how easy it is to hit jumps on skis. More area underfoot makes for alot more stability.
