How to shorten rossignol 5086 alloy poles.

put your poles in a clamp(put the handle in so you dont scratch the pole) then pull on them until the handles pop off, then use a copper pipe cutter to shorten desired amount.

as much as i want to say "this"....

this:

1- boil water, insert poles in grips down

2- pull them off..boiling should help them slide right off

3- cut with hacksaw. if you dont have one, you can use the edge of a file to notch them and then just break them, if you notch them well with a file they will snap clean

4- coat pole top with hairspray before putting grips back on. this will lube the pole while its wet and then act as glue once it dries

5- jam the handles back on

I just cut down a pair of Rossi poles, I didn't use hot water or anything, now that I think back it would have been easier, and then I cut them to 37" with a hacksaw, after the grips were put back on they came to 38", perfect. Check to see if the grips add any height because you don't want to cut it down and then put the grips on and have it an inch higher than you wanted.

Yea I used the hot water to get them off and they came off great. I cut them down with a hacksaw and just forced them back on and it is staying in place great. Thanks for the help!!
