How to pop onto a rial

Last season i started riding park and i was decent. When i moved to the bigger rails u had to pop onto them...i think its called handrail style or sumthin. i was wondering how to do this since your coming in from the side of the rail i could never land on the center of my skis so i always winded up falling or just slidding off... any tips would be much appreciated.

thats the one mistake people make is coming on at too much of an angle. you really want to come up to to it perpindicular to the rail with a little bit of an angle but not much. then pop and turn. you dont want to be halfway turned before you even get in the air.

I have been having the same problem. I am fairly new to park, and I can do boxes and wider rails fine, but when it comes to handrails....I always end up sliding off to one side. Are there any other general tips that would help me keep my weight centered above the rail...or any tips that would help me pop onto the rail better?

clipping your ski, falling and bashing your hip is a good thing. it tells you what not to do. do this often enough and you'll love skiing that much more when you land your trick. it's all preference. try many techniques.

dont come on with to much if an angel.

i come on with my skis almost paralell with the rail right up along side it. this stops me from sliding of, but that is just me i dont about others.

yeah i started to come in more parallel today, after a few good falls, and it is def. a lot easier to get on the rail in the first place...but once I pop on, I had trouble staying on the rail.

ok this is a big secret so ur like really lucky im gonna tell you. first you bend your knees, and when you get close to the rail you jump so that you pop onto the rail

try takin a bit of speed and jumping down the rail a bit more, thus narrowing the angle and making it more like your attacking the rail straight on. as for staying on it, just make sure you keep your eyes fixed on the end of the rail and keep your hands going forward towards the end of the rail too. your body should naturally keep the balance.

yeah, youll never grease a rail when not looking at the end

try as your coming up to it focus on the where you're locking on,

but keep the end in your peripheral, then as soon as you lock look for the end.

itll start to happen naturally after practice
