How to paint crowbars

1204263276goggle.jpg

bein bored with phenoms and tape

nice, i need some tape thats not white lol, then i could experiment w/ some dope designs. like the one i will post in about 2 mins. the finished candy canes.

those are sick but i would make both the outriggers white, or instead of black make it red so it goes with the fade

try using a couple of materials as templates. For example i used that metal grating people put over gutters to paint a shirt and it gave it an almost snakeskin like look. if you want, cut a template out of a manilla folder (their easy to cut and hold up well) just be creative and try your ideas on paper before taking it to the goggle so you know you like it

thats an awsome idea, im just gonna have to find some small or intricate templates since its not a flat surface. i'll try a template on my next ones. but for now heres the latest crowbar creation.

i think they turned out pretty evenly considering the freehand.

thats and awsome idea, i think i'll definitly try a template for my next ones but for now heres these folks.

i think those turned out darn good considering they were freehanded w/ fine point sharpie.

if oakley sold any of these designs, the blk/white one, the candy cane, or the orange and green one, would you guys buy them?

haha devo, they had a song in not another ski movie. great band. and yeah probably but still i think oakley needs a little more then basic colors, text, and pro modle goggles. like more patterns and what not.

haha na i didnt mean they nee d a devo pro model, but that could be dope, but like the sun in the corner, like the red one with the white background. lol

i wouldnt be suprised if they did the white black one or something similar because there was the thread with the guy who won snowboard big air at the xgames wearing a pair that faded from baby blue on one side to brown on the other with one baby blue outrigger and one brown.

lol yeah, torgstien horgmo, i posted that vid for a sugestion of goggles in the ns crowbar thread and like 1 person saw it.

todays creations, crowbars wraped in green bandana. a little frayed in some places but i think they turned out awsome! especially w/ that denim strap.

that strap=lame with those

but those are sick, did you just lay a bandanna over the frame and then put a lense in? and use those retro straps they would be dopesauce

nope that bandana is glued on and cut out . idk how a retro strap would look but i'll put the blue one on and put a pic up. i think the denim works w/ the bandana personally.

ct bro bandana is ILLLLLLL sikkest pair on here created man so fuckin dope came out minttt man, im thinkin bout wrappin my anti frame with a pink bandana so it matches my stretch anti strap?

holy shit man that bandana idea is awesome. haha i just saw a blue bandana at walmart the other day, funny you used a green one on these cause i was looking to buy a green one and they didnt have any.

funniest thing ever, no! well since im taking a trip to walmart tommorow anyways, return some stuff, buy a blue bandana as previously mentioned i'll have to see if i cant pick up some latex paint as well. just been putting it off cause im lazy. if i do paint i'll probably go w/ the first full design or something like it. the blk and white ones. or maby just w/ some diff colors. blue and white would look crazy w/ the retro strap so we'll have to see.

i dont know what that means but that is a craaaaazy awsomee paint job, how did you tape the foam lke that cause it looks like you got the paint on those perfectly.

I'm a foreigner so I'm not sure what you're talking about. But I think you mean how I managed to tape my goggles - right? But I didn't use tape. I just use a 3 mm painting brush and then I painted. I'm not the best with a brush but I was doing my best.

thanks man. the tape looks almost like paint in person because its pretty thin and stretchy so it molds to the curves of the frame without any bubbles or folds. using an xacto knife i was able to cut it right along the creases where the lens and outriggers go (dont worry i pulled out the lens first). looks pretty clean i just have to redo the middle stripe on the bottom to get it to line up better.

its been to long since i made a new creation. still havnt found paint yet but i did pick up some colored tape.

first up we got the jamaican crowbars. didnt have a strap to go w/ these so i taped over outriggers(bad idea, looks horrible)

next up we got some rasta crowbars, pretty much same as jamaican but w/ red over the blk areas. again no strap but i did untape the outriggs.

let me know what you guys think or what you would like to see, i have white tape that i can color pretty much any color, and i have blue, gree, red, and yellow colored tape. also i could try more fabric like i did w/ the bandana ones.

looks good man. maybe try cutting around the holes where the outriggers go. i dunno i just think it looks cleaner with the frames one design/color and the riggers another.

back to athletic tap and sharpie today.

went for a light blue, lime green random shapes everywhere. i think they look pretty nice. would look even better w/ lime green outriggers.

view w/ retro strap.

let me know what you guys think!

could you give a little more detail on how to do the bandana wrapping, im gonna do that permanently on my spys

ok, im just going to put this on here b/c iv sent pm's out to like 9 ppl on how to do... so here it is everyone.

first, i soaked the bandana in water then draped and stretched it over the crowbar frame w/o the outriggers or lens on. then i let it dry over night on the frame so it was kind of in the shape of the frame (the water soaking also helps to clean the bandana). then i covered all the surfaces that the bandana needed to be touching with tacky glue(make sure you put extra glue on the parts that are narrow, that curve, or tight spots). then just put the bandana back onto the frame and smoothed it out over the glue. let it dry for a few hours then cut it w/ scisors and an exacto knife for the finer details, like cuting out where the lens goes and the holes for the oakley O on top and the outriggers.

sounds complicated but its really not that hard at all. just let the water dry overnight then let the tacky glue dry for a few hours and then cut off. im sure other kinds of glue would work, gorilla glue would probably but i had tacky glue so thats what i used. hope that helps. and props if you try it.

also, if you manage to make these(nice!), i would highly advise taping the facefoam, then spraying the fabric w/ waterproofing spray. b/c im 90% sure that if you took the ones i made to a hill and got snow on them that the glue would start coming off. so def waterproof!!

im sure it would work w/ other types of fabric as well. im going to try something similar to satin on the crowbars today. i'll let you guys know how it goes.

hmm, the satin isnt going as well as the bandana but its looking ok so far. i'll get pics up later.

(its a darker blue w/ small pokadots on it) if it works out all right it will be sick
