I got to memorize a shit load of greek and roman gods for english just in case im on a game show and need to know em. You guys got any tricks you do to memorize pointless long named shit????

chew the same kind of gum when you study as when you are quizzed on it it helps, its like hitting your dog so he remembers eating poop is bad

make a list of all the words you have to memorize with definitions that are as short as possible.
write JUST the words one below another down a sheet of paper
fold it in half so you can see the words
look at each word and try to come up with a meaning for EVERY word, when you write the DEF, flip the sheet over and write them all one below another.
now try and come up with the words from the defintions, writing them inside the folded sheet on 1 half of the paper.
fold the paper in half with your first try inside and the words you just wrote outside.
do it 4 or 5 more times (you will need 1 piece of paper for each 2)
I was taught this by Fritz Engebretson, a Cognitive Researcher and Mathematician

remember. visualize it. tell this story to yourself several times. get the pattern memorized. this is what those crazy guys who win competitions for memorizing the order of the cards in a deck say to do. it's usually worked for me.

in 3rd grade we had "because" on a spelling bee, and i got it wrong. after that i memorized it as

Make a story. So if you want to memorize something like a list of cards. Lets say you have king of spades, 9 of hearts, 3 of clubs. You could say something like The king dug a hole with his spade to win the hearts of 9 girls that he wanted to take to 3 clubs. It doesnt have to make sense. I learned this in my psych class. Its the technique that the "best memorizer" in the world used.

Good for you but that dosn't help hahahaha. Yeah i get off NS i justed wanted to see what you guys would say. All the ideas work, not so sure about the gum and hitting the dog thing though. Fuck it i'll try it anyway.
